I know everyone, including myself, says "If traveling were free, you'd never see me again." I agree. Traveling is an amazing experience.
1. Learning about new cultures
When you travel out of your state, you learn all about the different cultures, ethnicities, and religions out there. It's interesting to see the different things that go on.
2. The view
Traveling allows you to see so many different, amazing views. I'm sure the locals in Italy don't wake up every morning and think how amazing the view is, but a foreigner definitely will. Everyone always jokes that they can tell who the tourists are in Time Square, NYC, because they stop to take a million pictures, because to them, the view is different and they are amazed by it, while a typical New Yorker power walks through the city, not so amazed, because they live there.
3. Memories
The memories you create while traveling are priceless. Whether it's relaxing on a tropical island, cruising, or exploring monuments, you build memories with new people and the people you travel with. You also keep those memories with you forever. It's nice looking back from a vacation that happened years ago and remembering how much fun you had.
4. It's boring to stay in the same place
Staying in the same place gets old after a while. Instead of doing the same old things you're used to doing in your hometown or state, you can travel and open your eyes to a whole new surrounding.
5. It will teach you to appreciate where you came from
While traveling is amazing, at some point in the vacation, most people say they can't wait to be back in their own bed. Traveling makes you appreciate your own home and where you came from. For example, when you go to Mexico, and then return home, thankful to be able to drink the water without getting sick.
6. New opportunities
Traveling opens you up to opportunities you didn't know existed. After visiting different states, or even countries, you may decide you want to relocate, or take a job opportunity somewhere you would have never expected.
7. The experience
Although traveling tends to be expensive, every dime is worth the experience. You never hear anyone say, "Wow, I really regret that vacation!"
8. Family time
Traveling is great to spend time with family. Book a vacation with relatives you rarely get to spend time with, and you realize how nice it is to be with them for a week or so. Even if you go with just your immediate family, it brings everyone together for a short period of time.
9. Relaxing
With busy school and work schedules, traveling is perfect to just hangout and relax for a while. Traveling helps take your mind off of what is going on in your personal life. Nothing is more relaxing than laying on the beach reading a book, and having absolutely no responsibilities for a short period of time.
10. New food
Traveling allows you to try other cultures food. I bet NJ pizza doesn't compare to Italian pizza, or a fajita from your local Mexican restaurant can't beat one from a real, authentic restaurant in Mexico.
