As we are quickly approaching the halfway point of summer break, I figured now is a good time to address the reasons why we are ready go back to school, kind of. Because let's face it, we've all tweeted "Can I go back to school yet?"
1. You miss your friends, a lot.
You go from seeing these people every single waking hour or every single day to not seeing them for four months. That's a long time to be away from people that you now consider family.
2. You miss the freedom.
When you go to college no one tells you how strange it is to come home and all of a sudden have to answer to mom and dad again. We go from doing what we want when we want to having to answer to the wardens (AKA our parental figures).
3. You miss the insanity.
Whether you will admit it or not, you miss the crazy stories of what happened over the weekend. You miss the 2 a.m. pizza orders. You miss going to brunch on Sunday morning and reliving the previous night's events.
4. You are starting to get bored (possibly).
Let's admit it the first two weeks home doing nothing was great, but then it all went down hill. You work all day whether it's a random summer job or a big internship, and you're actually getting bored of doing the same thing every day.
5. You miss learning new things.
Regardless of how much we complain about classes and professors, many of us wouldn't work as hard as we do if what we are learning wasn't slightly interesting to us.
6. You miss the spontaneity.
You miss the random adventures that life takes you on in college. You miss being able to go to on escapades with your friends. But, you can do that with friends at home, too.
On the other hand...
7. You are still trying to catch up with friends from home.
If you are like me, there are friends that you have from high school that you still have not seen and not because you are avoiding them, but because you are growing up and your lives are going in different directions. So, your goal has now become seeing them just once before you head back to school.
8. The home-cooked meals.
No matter how terrible a cook your mom might be, there is just something about food that is always better when it is made with love. You may have even gained a few pounds because your mom missed you so much she makes you whatever you want.
9. Your own bed and privacy.
I think this is pretty self explanatory, but personally I find my bed to be a gift from God, as well as being about to have my own room and do whatever I want without judgement.
10. You still have not had enough downtime.
If you are very career driven, it may be likely that you have not even really had a vacation yet. in which case you are trying to hold on to the summer as long as and is humanly possible.
