Just a few short years ago, many of us searched our Netflix accounts for something interesting to watch. Whether a friend recommended it to us or we found it ourselves Orange Is the New Black has become an instant sensation. For those who watch it, we’re all guilty of binge watching episodes into the dark hours of the night, and then waiting all year for the next season.

OITNB has won many awards and gotten lots of attention how great of a show it is. Here’s my reason why OTNB is the best show.

They don’t discriminate against sexuality. The show represents the LGBT community very well.

They let everyone know that people suffering from mental illness are really people. We all love Crazy Eyes, and Lolly, even though they suffer from mental disorders.

The secondary characters are just as awesome as the main characters.

The writers let us know all the back stories for every character. The backstories are some of the best parts of the episodes. I mean seriously who saw the Amish thing coming for Leanne? I didn't.

The show teaches valuable life lessons. Many characters teach us important values about love, life, and many other things.

We’ve learned how to behave in prison. Don’t insult the food.

They crush stereotypes.

Everyone of all nationalities and religions are represented on the show.

We are all obsessed with the theme song. THE ANIMALS, THE ANIMALS!!!

And we’ve learned that a lot of the inmates are kind, caring people who made one or two bad calls, and they don’t deserve to be treated horribly because of that.
