Whenever I tell people I want to become a teacher I almost always get the same response “Really? Why??”

My elementary school teachers were the ones who really influenced me to want to become an elementary school teacher. They were the best teachers and I will never forget them. After seeing what a positive influence they had on me, I knew I wanted to be that positive influence on a child one day. That’s when I knew I wanted to become a teacher, thank you to all of my teachers in the past for inspiring me.

1. Having my own classroom to decorate and organize

The thought of having my own classroom is so exciting. I have so many ideas of what I can do and ways to stay organized. I want my class to be colorful and fun!

2. Seeing my students smile when they understand something

They get so happy when they finally understand a math problem after explaining it to them. Every minute of explaining and helping the student is all worth it when you see that smile.

3. Building relationships with my students

I’m looking forward to getting to know my classmates and getting to spend a school year with them. Children are so fun and they're at a great age and I'm excited to be with them every day.

4. Creating fun and exciting lesson plans

I’m ready to start creating centers, and fun activities that the students get to enjoy while learning.

5. Getting to be in an elementary school

Whenever I go back to my old elementary school I am so happy, I love just walking the halls and seeing all the students. It is definitely the perfect place for me!

6. Helping students learn and achieve their goals

I love helping children and making their learning experience better will be something I will love to do. I will make sure they are learning in the style that works best for them.

7. I want to be that cool and nice teacher the students want to have

I have had many of these teachers and I always looked forward to school because of them. I want my students to be excited to come to school and learn!

8. You get weekends and vacations off, which is a plus!

It’s nice to have that time to catch up on work, or even just to spend time with family and friends after a long week of school!

9. I want to be someone a student can go to in a time in need

I want children to come to me for help and support so I can guide them in the right direction. You don’t know who they have to go to at home or even at school, I want to be that person for them if they ever need anything.

10. I want to see my students progress as the year goes on

I’m excited to see all of the things they learn and how much they have grown over the year. It really will be the best feeling seeing how much they have accomplished.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
