Parent’s and family weekend is always one of the most memorable weekends of the year. Though the weather doesn’t always provide the best conditions, anywhere with the right people is always a good time. So here’s why parents and family weekend is better than going home.
- Your parents can meet all of your new friends, and for upperclassmen it’s a chance to get the whole group back together for another year.
- If you live far away and don’t get to go home that much then having your family here makes the home sickness go away.
- This weekend feels like you are home without actually having to be there. You have your family close by along with all of your school friends together in one place.
- There’s a chance your parents or family might take you out to dinner and you can get off campus for a little bit and get a change of scenery.
- Weekends like this you can enjoy being outside a little bit longer before it gets too cold and the weather starts changing.
- For the football fans it’s a great chance to watch some college football, and for people who don’t really keep up with sports you can watch the scoreboard from the tailgate and eat all the food instead.
- For upperclassmen, your parents can see how well you are doing in school and have a little chance to brag about it at the Dean’s list breakfast.
- Tailgating with tons of food from all of your friends' families is like an all-day buffet and is definitely one of my favorite parts of the day.
- You can show your parents and family all around campus, and this year even show them the new AIC building.
