The Village Store & Café is one of the most hidden gems in Western Massachusetts. Everyone who attended Wilbraham and Monson Academy, such as myself, was very lucky to be within a five-minute walk of this coffee shop. Countless hours were spent there; whether it was before school, during a free period, after school or even on the weekend. A day at WMA was never complete without a visit to the Village Store. After being away at college for a couple of months, going back to the Village Store over break truly made me feel like I was back at home. That is most definitely due to the fact the Village Store served as a second home during my four years of high school, not just for me, but for many of my friends as well. Here are some of the reasons why it is worth the visit:
1. You can start every morning there.
This may not be true to all, but for regulars such as myself, who needed that iced vanilla coffee, and an egg and cheese on an english muffin to start the day off right, the Village Store was a must.
2. It’s comfortable.
The leather couches are always a nice place to unwind and relax.
3. You are with good company.
The Village Store is always best when you are with friends. It is the perfect place to quickly catch up, or to talk for hours.
4. It is a great place to study.
Similarly to home, it is the perfect atmosphere to get a lot of work done.
5. There's great food!
Whether it a breakfast sandwich, a lemon square or a caprices sandwich, there is always something for everyone.
6. It is extremely nostalgic to go back.
Returning to the Village Store automatically makes you reminisce about old times.
7. If you are having a bad day, it makes everything better.
Most people from WMA can attest to the fact that the Village Store can brighten any day and is a great place to get away from the stress of school for a little while.
8. It is inviting.
Likewise to home, the Village Store has warm and welcoming vibes, which makes it an even better place to spend time.
9. The people there know you, and your order.
After going to the Village Store enough times to earn the senior superlative, "The Village Store's Best Customer", you get to know the people who work there and they get to know you.
10. It is the perfect place to reconnect.
Especially if you have graduated from WMA, it is the best place to catch up with friends and be reminded of great times you had there.
