With elections coming up so soon we have a lot of decisions to make about who we want to vote for. This year it seems harder than ever to choose! Your vote is important to the outcome of this election, and if you need more convincing before you decide to vote, I have ten reasons for you.

1. It's your duty as a US citizen to vote

We should vote because as US citizens we should. The government put in place only works if the citizens vote.

2. If you vote you have full rights to complain about the outcome

If you vote then no matter what happens you can get upset because you voiced your opinion about what should happen.

3. Your vote really does matter

Young people make up a large part of the population, but have poor turnout come election day. This is a problem because that means our opinions are not heard by the people who make big governmental choices for us.

4. More voters making educated votes will be better for the country than if you don't vote

It is important when voting to know what you're voting for, but it can be tough to know what information is true and what's false. If you can, try to get your information from varied sources and try to find one thats unbiased.

5. If young people vote then our opinions will matter more to the people making choices in the government

The people in government make decisions based on the wants of those who will vote for them once they are up for re-election. If young people show up to vote the people in the government will take our opinions into account.

6. You have the right to vote

A number of people throughout American history have fought for the right to vote. They didn't do that so you could sit on your couch watching Netflix for a whole day instead of voting.

7. It's easy to register

It only takes a few minutes to register and it's so worth it. I'll even make it easier for you. Here's the link to register for California voters: http://registertovote.ca.gov

8. If you leave it up to the old folks you'll be stuck with whatever they voted for after they die

Who knows what will happen to our government with the elderly voting? They will vote in favor of themselves so we have to even the playing field by voting in our favor.

9. Its one of the few ways we can make immediate change in the government

We only have a few ways to impact the government immediately. The government takes time to do anything, but our votes make change in the here and now.

10. It makes you feel like a responsible adult with your life together

Voting is one of those things that makes you feel like you might be able to do the whole adult thing like going to the bank or getting a tune up on your car, but so much better.

Bonus: You get a super cool sticker!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
