10 Reasons to Re-read the Harry Potter Books

Last semester I decided that I wanted to re-read the Harry Potter books. With the schedule I had I quickly realized that ain't nobody got time for that. After hearing about audible (I forgot that public libraries let you rent out audio books) I looked into Audible. I was hooked as soon as I bought the first book. Instead of having to sit down and read the books, I could listen to them in my car, walking to class, while at work, when I have down time throughout the day, really just as often as I could. Audible is more convenient than renting them out at the public library since you download it on your phone and take it everywhere. I had forgotten how much I loved the Harry Potter books. I also realized that the books are super relatable to college life. I honestly don't need a reason to re-listen or re-read the books, but in case you do, here are 10 reasons you should re-read, or really purchase all of the books on audible.

1. Having a hard time waking up to go to boring classes? Re-visit how Harry feels waking up in a cupboard for the first eleven years of his life. Or how hard to was for Harry to wake up when he was on the run and looking for Horcruxes.

2. Tired of the food being served in the dining hall? Think about how Harry felt when Dudley had to go on a diet because he'd gotten too fat so the whole house was forced to endure that same diet.

3. We all procrastinate our assignments but it made me feel better about it once I listened to the Goblet of Fire. Harry has two months to figure out the clue in the egg and waits till the last day to do it. (Technically Dobby did all the work but we'll just ignore that.)

4. If you think you have it bad in one of your classes you clearly need to re-visit the Snape vs. Harry war that goes on in basically every book.

5. Neville Longbottom struggles in potions more than you struggle in all of your classes combined. Actually he struggles in all of his classes but herbology.

6. Dumbledore. The man, the myth, the legend. He'll give you more inspirational (and sometimes mental) words to get you through the whole year.

7. If you are kicking ass in your classes, you can try to take it to the next level like Hermione Granger does in every aspect of life, if you'd forgotten.

8. Don't like an outfit you are wearing? Do you remember when Ron had to wear second hand robes that were full of ruffles?

9. Does your roommate annoy you? You must not remember how annoying Gilderoy Lockhart was in the second book.

10. Think there is too many rules for your dorm? 2 words: Dolores Umbridge.

After that you have basically everything about the Harry Potter books. What reason could you possibly have for not wanting to re-discover The Wizarding World of Harry Potter? "Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home." -J.K. Rowling

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
