10 Reasons I'm Thankful For My Dog
Brianna Cid

This is Leo. I have had him for about 2 months and I love him with every ounce of me! I was never huge into animals in general, but I always thought they were cute. I thought I can hardly take care of myself let alone another living thing. But one day one of my friends called and said she found a dog at a restaurant parking lot and wanted to know if I wanted him. I was taken back at first, but said "YES!" I didn;t know why but i just knew he was supposed to me mine and I would love him forever. He is the best! These are the reasons I'm thankful for my dog.

1. He makes me smile

I know that sounds cliche, but its true! Everyday I come home to a happy dog. He greets me as I come in the door with excitement and a tail wag.

2. He's a good listener

Whenever I'm mad we go on a walk. I talk to him about work or school or my boyfriend. Of course I know he has no idea what I'm talking about, but its good to know that he will listen and not interrupt. Plus he's happy no matter what you say. And he doesn't think you're crazy.

3. He makes me active

He might only be 15 lbs, but he is 15 lbs of fun. He loves tug-o-war! He is always ready for a game of fetch too. He's still learning how to drop the toy, but it's okay. He will try to hide from you and you have to find him. He knows how to wear me out!

4. He makes me lazy too

Some days Leo doesn't want to do anything, but lay around and snuggle. Which I'm okay with. He will cuddle next to me or if he really wants to cuddle he will crawl up my chest and go to sleep. When he gets cold he will borrow in the blankets like he owns the place and of course I let him.

5. He make me a better person

He reminds me to stop being so selfish. He reminds me that the world doesn't revolve around me. He makes me life perspective better and gives me a reality check. He make me want to care for people more.

6. He dries my tears

I'm not kidding! One day I was having a horrible day and just needed to cry. It was the first time Leo saw me cry. He looked at me confused then slowly walked up next to me as I was laying on the bed. I looked at Leo and he licked me tears away. I started laughing through the tears and just hugged me little Leo.

7. He's preparing me to be a parent

I know having a child and having a dog are different, but this is a baby step. I have to think of Leo before myself. I have to care for him and give him attention and give him a bath and make sure I don't forget to feed him and most importantly love him unconditionally! And that's the best part!

8. He makes me enjoy life

He makes me forget about all the bad stuff that goes on in life. He makes my life positive. He makes the bad feel like it doesn't matter. He gets my mind off life just for a little bit. He lets me dress him up and he hates it which makes it even funnier. His sassiness make me laugh.

9. I'm never alone

In this big world it's easy to feel lonely. But whenever I feel lonely I remember I have my amazing dog that will love me and always be by my side. He is also never alone either. When it storms and he gets scared I'm always going here for him. I'm love knowing I'm never alone.

10. He makes me love

He brings my heart so much joy! My dog was probably abused by his previous owner which make me love him more. I never want him to think I will leave him. He makes me love him more than I thought I ever could. He makes me love other dogs and love other people because it reminds me that you never know what other people are going through

I am beyond thankful for my dog Leo. He has taught me so much in only a short amount of time. I can't wait to see what life has in store for Leo and me!

Don't forget to love your dog.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
