Exactly a year ago, I was the opposite of patiently waiting for college start. If you don't believe me, just ask my poor parents. I could not wait to finally live on my own, not have to text my parents my whereabouts 24/7 and kiss my curfew goodbye. What I was the most excited for was finding "my people" in college. I remember thinking to myself " a year from now I will be friends with people I don't even know exist." Now that a year has passed, I could not imagine my life without my college friend group. They kept me alive ( literally and figuratively) and make living nothing short of an adventure. I found a group of genuine, down to earth, HILARIOUS, spontaneous, full of life and wild people I am honored to call my friends. I wouldn't trade the memories we can (and can't) remember for the world.
The best things in life you don't see coming. Thank you, each and every one of you, for unexpectedly turning my year from drab to fab! This is dedicated to you, you know who you are!!!
1. Thank y'all for making game days a blast.
One of my favorite things about college is the football games. So what could be better than your favorite people and your favorite sport? You are correct, NOTHING! Thinking about all of the tail gates and football games we get to take on together this fall make me so excited!2. Thank y'all for making studying less awful.
There is nothing appealing about being stuck in the library for hours on end and an endless supply of assignments. But when you add your best friends into the mix along with a generous amount of Coffee it makes it a million times better. Though there may be more laughs and Snapchat videos than the time studying, it still is time well spent. I couldn't have made it through finals week, or school in general out without my pals by my side.
3. Thank y'all for making the pregame just as much fun as the party.
College parties set the bar pretty high when it comes to a fun night. When we all get together, before we take the town by storm, it makes staying in not such a bad idea. Whether we are playing "beer pong", showing off our dance moves, playing ring of fire, or messing around it always makes for iconic stories.
4. Thank y'all for keeping my meals from being lonely.
Eating is something our group always seems to be doing. Whether it's getting fast food, eating in the dining hall, going out for our favorite local restaurants or a sorority/fraternity fundraiser we never have to worry about eating alone. Just one text in the group message and you can rest assured at least one of your homies won't let you look like a loser eating alone. Breaking bread together is worth all the calories and freshman ( or sophomore) 15.
5. Thank y'all for the crazy stories I probably shouldn't tell my kids (but I will).
The things we have gotten into together sounds like something off of a sitcom. I am thankful for friends who won't let me sit in my dorm and make me live life to the fullest. College is some of the best years of our life and I have you guys to thank for that. Having wild and outgoing friends is better than it sounds! I am so ready to make more unforgettable memories with y'all.
6. Thank y'all for letting your homes be my home too.
Its safe to say I spend more time at my friend's places than my own. Thank you for housing me, feeding me and driving me around. I should probably start paying you guys' rent...
7. Thank y'all for being the cure for hangovers.
Hangovers are never fun but having friends to endure the pain with is priceless. Movie marathons, chilling all day in your PJ's and sleeping all day with your homies are the perfect cure. Thank you for taking care of me, I will always be there to take care of y'all.
8. Thank y'all for all of the advice.
Knowing I can come to you guys about anything and I don't have to worry about being judged is so refreshing. You guys have made me smile on some of my darkest days and encouraged me when I needed it most. I am so thankful for the continuous love and support.
9. Thank y'all for the adventures.
As a person who lives for adventure and thrives in spontaneity, i picked friends who always encourage that. They always have something fun up their sleeve or down to do something fun. Traveling or staying in town with yall is nothing short of amazing.
10. Thank y'all for being my friends.
Having each one of you as my friend for life means more to me than I can express. This article is just a small way for me to show my appreciation for you guys and changing my life for the better. Each one of you is so different and unique in your own way. You all add so much to my life. You all deserve the world.
