The Starbucks-Dunkin' Donuts feud has been going on since what seems like the dawn of time. Although both coffee shops have their pros and cons, I am finally attempting to settle this incredibly important debate and prove that Starbucks is the superior coffee shop.
1. The atmosphere
The great thing about Starbucks is that you can either quickly run in for a cup of coffee on your way to work or sit down and enjoy that cup of coffee and a muffin while catching up with your friend from high school. The atmosphere has that perfect movie-scene coffee shop vibe that you can take advantage of, but don't need to be tied down to if you're in a hurry.
2. Efficiency
While we're talking speed, let us not neglect the efficiency of the employees. There are usually three (and sometimes more) employees working to make sure all customers' drinks are made quickly and efficiently.
3. There are more options
There are probably a hundred different ways to make one drink on Starbucks' already extensive menu. Coming from someone who has recently discovered an issue with digesting lactose, I am eternally grateful to Starbucks for carrying soy milk so I can still have my daily dose of caffeine without sacrificing the delicious aspect of it (for the record, Dunkin' does NOT carry soy.)
(This beautiful carton has given me so much joy)Pretty much if you can dream it, Starbucks can make it so you will never feel limited on your options.
4. They are healthier
Speaking of options, Starbucks has some incredibly healthy (and delicious) options for its customers. Never again will you feel guilty about that delicious latte in your hands! Starbucks carries many sugar-free syrups for their beverages as well as skim milk to complete that "skinny" order you so desperately want. The food options are pretty great too, varying from oatmeal with blueberries (which is delicious) to their Bistro Boxes, full of fruit or other healthy options (hummus, cheese, hard boiled eggs, need I continue?) No need to slack on your diet if you decide to go to Starbucks!5. They are kind to their employees
Starbucks wants its employees to achieve their education dreams. They have a partnership with Arizona State University where Starbucks fully covers tuition for employees working towards their bachelor's degree online. How many big-name companies actually do this? This is an incredible perk of being an employee at Starbucks.
6. They are kind to the environment
Starbucks currently has over 650 LEED Certified stores in 19 countries (wow) which is more than any other retail shop in the world. In addition to that, Starbucks is a leader in water and energy conservation, a project they have been tackling for quite some time. Starbucks has also been addressing the issue of climate change since 2004.7. They are kind to the community
Between community service and the Starbucks Foundation, opportunities for youth grants, Starbucks Work Placement Program, and many other projects, Starbucks is truly a leader in the community to make our world a better place.8. They are kind to military members and veterans
Starbucks has pledged to hire 10,000 veterans and military spouses by the year 2018 to help veterans and their families transition to a civilian life. Starbucks understands the importance of helping veterans become acclimated back into civilian life after their time serving our country. They also support major organizations such as The Mission Continues, Joining Forces, the USO, Onward, and so many more.9. They are kind to the farming community
Starbucks has countless programs that are aimed at supporting the farming community. It has also invested over $70 million in collaborative farming programs and activities. Pretty much, Starbucks just wants to help out.
10. Individuality
As a major chain store all over the world, you would expect each store to be completely cookie-cutter to every other store. Wrong. Each Starbucks I have stepped into is different from the next. More and more frequently, I have seen Starbucks's that connect to the community in which it resides. Starbucks has also had cup design contests to encourage creativity among its employees and patrons.
