10 Reasons My Sister Is My Best Friend

I consider my sister my best friend, and I always will. There are many reasons for this, and here are 10 of them!

1. She is just as much of a dork as me.

I fully accept that I can be a complete weirdo and I am a major dork. My sister, not only completely accepts that, but she is as well. The fact that I am comfortable making my weird jokes and nerdy references allows me to be myself with her one hundred percent of the time. It also helps having a fellow dork as a sister when you are in the mood for a Doctor Who marathon!

2. She can handle me at my worst

My sister has dealt with me for twenty years now, and some of those years were very rough. There have definitely been times where I treated her horribly, yet she eventually forgave me. My sister was forced to deal with my immaturity, selfishness, putting all of my anger on her. Through all of this, she has managed to continue to love me and get past all of that.

3. She doesn’t judge my dumb moments

I have a lot of very dumb moments, and my sister has witnessed the worst of them. Yet, she still thinks that I am smart, which is a miracle. My sister never makes me feel embarrassed when I am having my off days, even though I know there will be many jokes about it in the future.

4. But, she is not afraid to tell me when I am being dumb

As a human that makes mistakes frequently, I need someone in my life to tell me when I need to get myself together. My sister is one of the first people to do that. She is never afraid to tell me that I am making a mistake, and while this can be frustrating at the time, I am so thankful for it.

5. She is always there for me

My sister has been there for me through the roughest times in my life. No matter what happens, she is always there to hold me and let me cry. Not to mention, she knows the best time for pizza and ice cream.

6. She always wants me to do my best

My sister always reminds me that I have to work hard to get anywhere. She doesn’t just want me to do things with my life, she always wants me to do my very best. She is the first and the last person to offer to help me better myself in whatever way she can.

7. She encourages me

Definitely one of my biggest fans is my sister. No matter what it is I am doing, she will always be there to cheer me on. Even when she cannot be there physically, she still prays for me and always asks how things went.

8. She inspires me

My sister is one of the smartest and most hardworking people I know. She puts all of herself in everything she does. She is funny, nice, and a strong Christian. Everyday I am reminded of how truly amazing and inspiring she is. If I can be even half as good a person as she is, I’ll be just fine in life.

9. She knows me better than anyone

If there is anyone who knows me best, and possibly even better than I know myself, it is my sister. She knows just the right thing to do to cheer me up, exactly what to make me for the best breakfast at her house, and how to always make me laugh.

10. She will always love me

No matter how many times we fight with each other and drive the other insane, we will always love each other. I only have one sister, but there is no way I could have gotten a better one.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
