There's no better person to have by your side as your best friend then your mom. I know from experience that I wouldn't be the person I am today if my mom was not my best friend. There is a very big difference between having your best friends that are your age to help you go through life at the same time as you, but there is something special about a best friend who has been through it all and simply wants the best for you. Here are 10 reasons why it is the best.

1. She always knows the right thing to say.

When life is stressful and I want to do nothing but cry, my mom always knows what to say to make me feel better. Even if I don't realize it during that second, if I take a step back and think about it later on, I know that she is right and she can stop my stress. There is nothing better then having her talk me down and make me feel better.

2. She gives the best advice.

Because she has been through it, she knows what she's talking about. She has been right about friends, about boys, and about school all along. I love that I am lucky enough to have a mom that I can spill all my secrets to and she can give me her advice on what I'm dealing with.

3. She always supports me.

I have some crazy ideas sometimes, between switching majors and thinking about what I want to do with my life, or even just who I want to date, she always supports me. My mom always makes sure I know that she will be proud of me no matter what I do because she knows that I did my best. She has never once told me I couldn't do something and for that I am truly grateful. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself and there is nothing more you could ask for.

4. For always making me laugh.

Whether it be telling stories, singing in the car, or laughing at our favorite tv shows I know that when I'm with my mom, I will always have a good laugh. We can laugh at the stupidest things, but I know if I'm laughing, she's laughing. That's what BFFS are for duh.

5. Because life is never boring.

When your mom is your best friend, life is literally never boring. Even a night in at home seems like the funnest thing because I can hang out with her and be perfectly content. I love going on little dinner dates with my mom and shopping because she is my best friend so we always have the best time.

6. For always being honest.

The truth hurts sometimes, but coming from my mom I want to here nothing but. She always tells me right from wrong, she always tells me her opinion, and she is pretty much always right (yes I admitted that lol.) Even if I don’t take it at first, her honesty is what has gotten me this far. It has motivated me to be better and to go after what I want.

7.For always being on my side.

When I feel like the world is against me, she always has my back. She is always on my side and even if she tells me that I may not be doing the right thing in a situation, it is because she knows I can be better. There is nothing better then her always being on my side.

8. For giving the best hugs.

This may sound cliche but a hug from my mom is the best therapy. If I've had a stressful day, hugging my mom can make it all better.

9. Because life is never perfect...

But she tries to make it as close to perfect as she can for me and my sister. Both she and my dad have always worked their hardest to give us everything we want/ need and I am beyond appreciative of that. I hope one day I can give back and I hope I make her life as close to perfect as I can as well.

10. Just because.

Because I have my mom, I will always have a friend. There aren't enough words to describe how thankful I am to have her as my best friend, or how much I appreciate her. My mom is everything to me and I am so blessed to be so close to her.

So thank you mom, for being the best friend a girl could ever ask for.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
