10 Reasons Hammocks Are Literally The Worst

Hammocking is just awful. There is nothing beautiful or relaxing about it, it is honestly just stressful and not worth your time. Don't let any of these chaco wearing, tree huggers tell you otherwise because if you dare try it, you'll see that it is absolutely horrible. Don't believe me? Here's 10 reasons why hammocking is truly awful.

1. Outdoors is just gross.

I mean who would ever want to sit outside? The air just isn't fresh enough and all that there is to do is stare at blobs of green stuff. Too many bugs and gross things to enjoy it.

2. There is nothing pretty about it

There is no where to hammock with a view. I mean mountains? Tree's with a waterfront view? Nope. You definitely won't find any beautiful places to hammock; like ever.

3. If I swing too much I will spill my coffee.

I mean seriously how hard is it to sit somewhere and not spill your coffee. Now I have to change my shirt if I decide to bring a cup of coffee in my hammock because hammocks can't sit still enough-- how irritating!

4. I sometimes look ridiculous getting into it.

Getting into my hammock is a whole other story that can be so embarrassing. Hammocks are awful because my life would be absolutely over if I tried to hammock somewhere that people could see me getting into it.

5. Hammock pictures are overrated.

Talk about being basic. There is nothing unique or pretty about a picture from a hammock. I mean a cool picture from a special spot with a great view? Not possible.

6. Odds of falling are too high

In fact I have fallen once so I can tell you that it isn't fun but since there are such high odds, I think I'd rather not risk it.

7. I'd rather hang with my friends

I mean no friends would ever wanna hang from a tree with you because they would think you are totally weird.

8. It's stressful

Honestly, wrapping some straps around trees, clipping in and chilling in a tree is too stressful to enjoy. It just brings so much anxiety knowing I have to pack up my stuff after and so much has to be done to set up that I can't find time to relax at all.

9. It's just not fun

It is just so boring sitting in your hammock. Music? Nah. Read a book? Who even likes books. Homework? that's the reason I am not hammocking. You can't do anything from a hammock, you can't even eat ice cream so why would you even want to hammock?

10. Hammocking lacks adventure

There is absolutely no adventure in hammocking because you are just stationary. That's all that's to it so who would even wanna try it? You can't hammock anywhere neat and it definitely lacks all sort of adventure.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
