10 Reasons Why I Am Excited To Be An RA

Coming to Eastern, I did not know what to expect with the environment, people, and many more things. I understood I was entering a Christian University, but sometimes the word Christian does not mean a lot to some people. Since I have been at Eastern, three people have impacted my life tremendously, and because of these three people, and my career choice, I decided to apply to be an RA. For those of you who do not know, an RA is a Resident Assistant. I am here to be a resource to residents on campus. I am also here to help them with any problem that they may have, and in an unlucky case of something going wrong, I would have to write an incident report to inform the Resident Director. Now, with all that being said, here are 10 reasons why I am excited to be an RA.

10. Someone Believes I Can Do It.

It feels really good to know the people who hired me to be an RA believe I can do the job, and that is extremely exciting!

9. Being a Resource for People.

I am super excited to be a resource for new and returning students on campus. I want them to come and ask me question so that I can help them.

8. I Like Helping People.

Nine and Eight are kind of the same, but different. Besides being a resource, I like helping people, and I am excited to help serve Eastern's community to the best of my ability and in any way I can.

7. The Community Aspect.

I am really excited to help contribute to the building of community at Eastern especially with the girls on my hall. I know this may be more difficult than it sounds, but I believe I am up for the challenge and can do it.

6. Friendships

I am super excited for not only the friendships that I will make this year but for my residents to form friendships with each other through our hall activities.

5. What This Opportunity Will Do For My Future.

I am super excited to be an RA because I believe it will help me with my ultimate goal of becoming a child advocate lawyer. It is the simple things in life that can change a person's outlook on something and help them grow. I believe this is one of those things just not as simple.

4. Growth

I am looking forward to the growth will experience not only spiritually but also as an individual . Being in RA training has already been teaching me so much about myself and God's plan for me that it is amazing.

3. My Staff

I am really excited to continue to work with my staff they are awesome. We are like a family, and like any family, we have our struggles but we bounce back, and that is all that matters.

2. God

I believe that God put me in this for a reason, and I am really excited to see what my reason is.

1. My Residents

Most of all I am excited to meet my Residents, and I hope that I can impact each of their lives in a very positive way. I hope God uses me and shines through me to help them more than myself and that they know that I care about each of every one of them.

These are my 10 reasons why I am excited to be an RA. I cannot wait for my residents to move in!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
