10 Reasons Everyone Needs A Dog

Dogs are probably the closest thing to perfection that can be reached on earth. Just all around they’re smart, caring, and can always make us laugh. We use dogs as bomb sniffers, stress relievers, and most importantly, they’re man’s best friend.

Here are 10 reasons why EVERYONE needs a dog:

1. They teach responsibility

Especially as puppies, dogs require a fair amount of attention. They need to be fed and walked a few times a day, go to the vet, and they love to play. I believe that growing up, it’s important for kids to have pets because it teaches them discipline and how to care for others.

2. Dogs are always happy

Dogs have a lot of energy and no matter what, they’re typically happy. Even if you leave your house for 15 minutes, a dog will be just as excited as if you were gone the entire day.

3. Their happiness is contagious

It’s not a shock that hospitals and colleges use dogs are stress relievers for those going through a tough time. If you’re upset, your dog is the first to come to you for assistance. Having a lab myself, I use to fake cry to get my dog’s attention and within a matter of seconds, he came over trying to lick my face while his tail was wagging.

4. They’re funny

One of the best things about dogs is their lack of the concept of personal space. Regardless of the size of the dog, they’ll be fine with sitting on your lap, feet, or just as close to you as possible. Sometimes they’ll bark when they see a mirror thinking it’s another dog, or just sprint in circles when they don’t know what to do with their energy.

5. They’re the siblings we choose to have

Dogs won’t fight with you, steal your clothes, or tattletale on you! We can just hang out and watch a movie with them, go for a run, and they’ll just go with the flow for whatever we want.

6. They will never judge you

A dog doesn’t care if you’re gay, Hispanic, rich, etc.-- your dog loves you for being his master. If you spend time with him or her, they’re happy. They don’t care who you love or what kind of house you live in. Dogs love you regardless.

7. They’re so cute!!!

There is no such thing as an ugly dog, and the great part is that their spunky, funny personalities make them even cuter! By having a dog, you are guaranteed to be looking at cuteness for all their years ahead!

8. We know they appreciate us

Sometimes dogs like dirty socks or large tree branches. And well, us humans don’t get too excited about those things, (even after they sprint over to us, tail wagging, and dump a dirty item on our laps). However, dogs don’t know that. When they find their perfect tree branch or catch a mouse, they’re proud, and as a gift of appreciation they want their human masters to have the best present (according to a dog) someone could want.

9. They’re a friend for life

As I said earlier, your dog is always thrilled to see you. He or she will be happy for you no matter what, and when you’re sad, dogs love to be affectionate. Dogs are full of personality and they love traveling and adventure. With this combination, you’ll have memories for a lifetime.

10. They teach us a lot

Dogs go with the flow, they love everyone, they don’t judge, they’re peaceful and carefree. Dogs are patient and protective over the ones they love. They live such a simple life, yet they can’t be happier creatures.

Dogs, and all animals are the greatest gifts we can have. Therefore, check out your local shelters, do what you can to give these perfect creatures a better life! Whether it’s just playing with them, giving them food, or even giving them a new home, there is no doubt they’ll appreciate you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
