10 Reasons Every College Student is Afraid to Graduate
A Matter of Flight

It’s okay, every student has some doubts about graduating college. There’s just so much beyond college that it can all be so overwhelming. But because college is so fun (right, cause pulling all-nighters to finish essays and spending hours doing homework is fun) most students don’t want it to end. And who can blame them? College is supposed to be some of the best years of your life! I know I don’t want it to end! However, like all good things, college and the fours years that are most likely spend in it, will eventually come to an end. Even if it seems far away. So here are some reasons that students not only don’t want college to end, but are scared of it ending.

1. Being shoved out into the real world.

Wait… what’s that? How does one “adult”?

2. Student Debt.

Oh yeah… we actually have to pay that back.

3. The workforce.

Typical family dinner conversation: “So what do you plan on doing with your degree?” “I DON”T KNOW OK.”

4. Financial Support.

How do you get a job? Please, tell me, how?

5. Leaving your friends.

Honestly, how will I have even have friends when I’m outside of college? Will my old friends still talk to me?

6. Living on your own.

Housing isn’t just easily provided but you now have to find it. What? Not only do you have to find it, you have to be able to afford it and all the commodities.

Which leads me to the next point…

7. Bills.

Because water, heat, electricity, sewer and whatever else are important.

8. You really can’t even call your parents and beg for money anymore.

Well, you can. But chances are it won’t have the old charm that it used to since you’re not in college anymore and don’t have an excuse for not having a job.

9. There will be no structure.

Let’s be real, we are totally just going to make it up as we go after graduation and not having structure is scary!

10. The real pursuit of happiness begins...

And it's completely up to you! While this is scary for a lot of students, it shouldn't be. Try and look at it this way, you can do whatever you want with your life. The world is your canvas. Adventure is out there!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
