There are millions of big words in the history of the English language. Everyone knows that. What people don't think about are those really big words that mean simple things. I've saved you the work of researching and all that jazz, so enjoy the following list of really big words and their meanings.

This means "pertaining to a long word."



4. Sesquipedalianism

This means having many syllables.

Meaning: lung cancer by inhaling volcanic dust.


6. Honorificablitudinitatibus

The definition here is honorableness.

7. Antidisestablishmentarianism

This one means opposition to the removal of a state religion.

8. Incomprehensibilities

Ironically, this word means hard to understand.

9. Unencumbered

This means to be free!

10. Perfidiousness

This is the betrayal of trust. Sad face.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
