If you enjoy country music like I do, then you understand the truthful, soul-crushing, life-relating lyrics by the musical group Rascal Flatts (my favorites). If you don't like country music, I suggest you listen to them, because their sound isn't typical country, and they're amazing, in general (especially live). I've found that Rascal Flatts are my go-to group in many situations in my life.
Just went through a heartbreak? Listen to Rascal Flatts! Just started falling in love with somebody new? Listen to Rascal Flatts! Feeling down about your life? Feeling pumped up about your life? Thinking of old times? LISTEN TO RASCAL FLATTS! To introduce (or reintroduce) you to the wonderful lyrical expertise of my favorite band, I will attempt to narrow down lyrics that will hopefully connect to you, in one way or another.
1. "Alone and helpless, like you've lost your fight, but you'll be alright, you'll be alright."
Listening to their song "Stand" makes you fill with adrenaline, like you're ready to climb Mt. Everest. It gives you a poetic perspective that life goes on, you are stronger than you think, and you'll be alright.
2. "Summer nights, everybody's feeling sexy."
"Summer Nights" should forever be a summertime anthem. It gets you ready for bonfires, swimming, beaches, hot guys/girls, and unforgettable memories made with great friends (and maybe alcohol). Also, no matter if you have a "summer body" or not, something about that warm summer air and the extra vitamin D makes you feel summer sexy.
3."It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go, but I’m doin’ it."
"What Hurts The Most" will hit you hard every time, even if you aren't going through a breakup or a rough time in your life. It has a way of bringing up old, hurtful memories from the deepest part of your unconscious. I don't suggest listening to this song in a car full of people. At least make sure you can hide your tears with your sunglasses.
4. "Girl, I bet that your neighbors hate us, 'cause we could laugh all night and never sleep."
"I Like The Sound of That" is a newer, upbeat song that makes you just feel happy when listening to it. It mainly relates to a significant other, but it can make you think of a best friend who you love to talk to and "laugh all night" with.
5. "So let it hurt, let it bleed, let it take you right down to your knees. Let it burn to the worst degree."
"May not be what you want, but it's what you need. Sometimes the only way around it is to let love do it's work, and let it hurt."
Forget pep talks, romance movies, and ice cream. The song "Let It Hurt" will rip your heart out and tell you to stop being strong about your heartbreak. The lyrics are so true, because does it really do you any good to pretend like you're OK? Let it hurt.
6. "I melt every time you look at me that way."
This could be a dog, cat, hedgehog, person, child. But they give you "the look," and well, you just "Melt."
7. "God bless the broken road that led me straight to you."
"Bless The Broken Road" is a famous wedding song for a reason. People come into our lives at strange times, and each person gets there as a result of a crazy mix of events, or a broken road. God puts people into your life for a reason. This song makes you reminisce the journey of that person making their way into your heart forever.
8. "Like it's midnight in Vegas, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, New Years Eve in New York City, you know what I mean. It's like lovers in Paris. Sunset strip in L.A. Doesn't matter where you are, well it's alright, it's alright to play."
Another great summer anthem song, "Play" reminds us that it's OK to let your hair down, let loose, and play.
9. "I see a dust trail following an old red Nova, baby blue eyes, your head on my shoulder. You don't look a day over fast cars and freedom, that sunset river bank first time feeling."
This song instills that feeling of back road cruising' with your summer fling, and they give you that look. The one where you just know you don't want the moment to end. The sun is blazing, windows down, barefoot, and driving through the country. "Fast Cars and Freedom" really is the good life.
10. "It's easy goin' out on a Friday night. Easy, every time I see him out. I can smile, live it up the way a single girl does but, what he, what he don't know is how hard it is to make it look so easy."
It's not "Easy" to pretend. But does this lyric need anymore explanation? No, because it speaks the truth, and makes your heart immediately sad.
The emotional, truthful, and soul-speaking lyrics can continue on and on. Perhaps it will be better for you to experience the Rascal Flatts' magic for yourself. Now go on and do your research! You'll thank me later.
