It's the final countdown, seniors. I'm sure there are a million thoughts swirling through your brain with only a couple months left. This time of our lives is bittersweet, overwhelming, emotional and exciting all at the same time.
We're starting a brand new chapter all while saying farewell to a chapter full of fond memories. Some of us may have regrets, while some of us still have things we want to do before we leave. On the other hand, some of us already have post-grad plans solidified, while the rest of us are still trying to figure it out.
Regardless of where you stand or what you're feeling, a little guidance and motivation can go a long way. Here are some quotes to meet you wherever you're at during this leg of the journey.
1. “It’s fine to just live in the now, but the best part about now, is there’s another one tomorrow. And I’m going to start making them count.” –The Spectacular Now
Enjoy the moment, but don't only live with a completely care-free attitude. Have fun but make every last day of college count.
2. “Since I was young, I have always known this: Life damages us, every one. We can’t escape that damage. But now, I am also learning this: We can be mended. We mend each other.” -Veronica Roth, Allegiant
Focus on the people who matter during the last couple months. You're bound to have a lot of ups and downs with the changes coming your way. Be there for them and allow them to be there for you. Even be open to meeting new people. Grades and jobs are important, but relationships are important too.
3. “Start appreciating the memories you have and stop begrudging the ones you never got to make.” –The Lucky One
I'm sure some things didn't go the way you had hoped, but don't let that keep you from appreciating all of the things that went well. Accept your past for its up and downs, and be thankful for all college gave you.
4.“Life may not always be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here, we might as well dance.” -Unknown
Like I said, college has its ups and downs. Don't let the small stuff get to you and prevent you from enjoying the time you have left in college. Grab your friends and dance your troubles away.
5. “What you do with your life is really just half of the equation. The other half—the more important half—is who you’re with when you’re doing it.” –Post Grad
Whether the next couple of months or life after college, what is anything you do worth if you have nobody by your side to share it with?
6."The rest of your life is being shaped right now. With the dreams you chase, the choices you make and the person you decide to be." -One Tree Hill
Your life doesn't start after your handed that diploma. This is your life. You are living it now, and you've been living it for the last 22 years.
7. "And if our hands should meet in another dream we shall build another tower in the sky." -Kahlil Gibran
You're all going separate ways, and as much as you want to deny it, some of you will lose touch. Have faith that when you meet again, it will be like nothing changed.
8. "Not only can you not plan the impact you’re going to have, you often won’t recognize it when you’re having it." -Dick Costolo
It's easy to reflect and question whether you left a mark or not. Trust me, in some shape or form, whether small or large, you've made an impact. Somebody's college experience wouldn't have been the same if it weren't for you.
9. “Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. Don't let anything stand in the way of the light that shines through this form. Risk being seen in all of your glory.” -Jim Carrey
Bravely be yourself. Recognition and acceptance are great, but if you're not being yourself, does it really count? Make sure your leave this place with people knowing who you truly are.
10. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” -Dr. Seuss
The quote says it all. Look back and be so extremely happy for the last four years you shared with the best people you've ever met.
