On St. Paddy's Day, everyone is Irish. But, because everyone is so decked out in green and drunk off beer, you sometimes can't tell if they're really Irish or if they're not. So for those of you who might have a little trouble deciphering between the OG Irish and the once-a-year's, here are 10 questions you can ask someone to see if they're really Irish.
1. Can you hold your liquor?
Irish people loveeee to drink. Whether they're born with a high tolerance or they acquire it over time, Irish people pride themselves in being able to hold their liquor.
2. Are you Catholic?
I'm not really sure of statistics here, but it seems like 99 percent of the Irish people I know are Catholic (including myself).
3. Do you have a face full of freckles?
Love it or hate it, most Irish people have freckles... and a lot of 'em.
4. Do you have a Claddagh Ring?
Yes. The answer is yes. Love, loyalty, and friendship. And depending on if someone has your heart or not, the heart will either point inward or outward.
5. Do you love potatoes?
Irish people love potatoes. Fries, wedges, baked, or mashed... any way you make them, we'll eat them.
6. Is your first name a Saint's name?
Probably...
7. Do you believe in leprechauns?
Yea we do! What, you don't?!
8. Do you have a lot of plaques with Irish Blessings hanging up in your house?
No matter which corner you turn, there's an Irish Blessing plaque in an Irish family's house. No matter if it says, "A face without freckles is like a night without stars," or "May the road rise up to meet you," every Irish household has a ton of these.
9. Do you start celebrating for St. Patrick's day a week before St. Patrick's day?
Yes.
10. Do you tan or do you burn?
I prefer the term Irish Glow.
