Holiday reunions are an excuse for family members to be as nosy as can be. And why? Because the 56 likes and comments that Grandma posted throughout various years of your Facebook profile weren't enough to satisfy her knowledge of your life in the last 24 hours. EVERY. DETAIL. MATTERS.
Common Q&A's at Holiday Family Reunions:
1. Have you figured out what you want to do in life?
I have a few dreams and aspirations, but for now, I would like to do that after an extensive amount of sleep deprivation from finals and papers due in the last 3 weeks.
2. Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
We are currently taking a break. Season 4 of House of Cards is in the making. We will see how it goes in the later months.
3. How is [insert childhood friend’s name here] doing?
Wish I could say. Last I knew, they moved away and started a band.
4. Are you involved in any athletics?
Between running to class, studying for exams, and sleeping, I'm not sure that's possible. Does going to the gym three times a week count? Only the incredible can juggle all these things at once. #bless
5. Have you thought about continuing your education after undergrad?
Yes. Do I know specifically what I might want to concentrate on doing? Absolutely not. It's like finding someone to love and marry. You must choose wisely because it will stay with you for life and it also may be costly.
6. Doesn’t Netflix get boring?
Don't talk about him/her like that. He/she has been very supportive in my weakest moments.
7.You must go out a lot, huh? Tell me about your crazy college experiences!
Well, there are two options: the G-rated and the Unrated.
G-rated - I camped in the library all weekend, never showered, and my diet consisted of Cheetos and Easy Mac.
Unrated - You're too innocent to hear this, Grandma.
8. Did you hear about [insert controversial topic here]?
It had to be said in a media/business/law class or on my social media feed. The only papers that are physically found on campus are the university newspapers with the occasional Wall Street Journal floating around.
9. What did you have to do to get into that sorority/fraternity?
Find a fantastic group of people that would love and support me unconditionally during and after my college years.
10. You look like you enjoy that college food, yes?
Thanks for telling me I've gained weight, Aunt Suzanne.
