As first year freshmen return to school or prepare to return back to school after their first winter break, many may face new anxieties, excitements, or fears that are different from that of first semester. I know for me personally second semester will be much different than my first, more classes, colder weather, and an entirely different sports routine will take some time getting used to. I would be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about what the new semester holds, and I would also be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified of meeting failure in this next semester. In times likes these I find the best peace in prayer, and so here are ten prayers for every second semester freshmen to think about when feeling anxious.
Dear God,
- I pray that you give me the strength to see through change in my life, allow me to be flexible and positive in times of unfamiliarity.
- Help me to remain motivated throughout times of pressure and overwhelming moments where I all I want to do is give up.
- I pray that you keep my heart kind and my mind open to meeting even more people than I did during first semester, I pray that you bring outsiders close and close friends closer.
- Please, God keep my feet steady as I walk across campus on icy sidewalks and snowy streets, I pray that falling on my butt is the least of my worries.
- God I pray that you stay close to me during 6 am workouts, free me of my physical limits and help me to succeed despite my injuries.
- I pray that you push me to be adventurous this semester, help me to see the precious gifts your world holds outside of my dorm room.
- God help me to allow my experiences to build on my ever-growing maturity and knowledge. Don’t let me get big-headed or too far from your kingdom.
- Please God lead me in your direction and help me spread your word more than ever this semester.
- I pray that you constantly remind me to call my family, help me to never forget that wherever I am, wherever I go, I will always need their love.
- Most importantly God help me to keep my heart light and free, allow me to see through negativity88 in order to make this semester a great one.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:5-7
