10 Things Every Fitbit Addict Says

If you have a Fitbit you have definitely said one, two or all of these phrases before.

1. “How many steps do you have?"

This is a common question for all those competitive and curious Fitbit users. It makes sense why everyone seems to ask this question because what is better than asking your friend how many steps they have and finding out you are beating them?

2. "Sync your steps”

While in any challenge with your friends, family or coworkers, you constantly ask them to sync their steps because you NEED to know if you are still in the lead and if you are not … it is time for some walking! But what is worse than that friend who does not sync their steps until the last day and they pass you out of nowhere?

3. "I’m going to beat you in the *insert Fitbit challenge here*"

If you are competing in the Workweek Hustle, Weekend Warrior or even the Daily Showdown, you are not going to accept their challenge request unless you know you are going to win. I think we are all guilty of walking in circles around your house or pacing just to pass people in the challenge.

4. "Ugh! I have no steps today.”

The saddest moment of all time - when you check your Fitbit and realize you only have 1,000 steps. Even though you know you sat in bed all day and watched Netflix, it always seems to come as a surprise when you check your steps and notice that you actually have not moved all day.

5. You: “Anyone want to go for a walk?” Friend: “To where?” You: “I don’t know, anywhere. I need steps.”

This conversation always seems to happen when you are so close, yet so far, from meeting your daily goal. There is nothing worse than when your friend says "no" because they do not have a Fitbit and do not want to aimlessly walk.

6. "Which Fitbit do you have?”

When you first find out that your friend you have been convincing to get a Fitbit finally gets one or you make a new friend and find out they have a Fitbit, you are always curious which one they ended up purchasing. If it is the Charge or the Flex or the Alta you know that many Fitbit challenges await (of course that you will be winning).

7. "I didn’t do well in the challenge because my Fitbit died.”

There is nothing worse than having your Fitbit die while in the middle of a challenge and not having a charger with you. What is worse than telling your friends you are going to win and then losing?

8. “My Fitbit is charging so there’s no point of walking.”

The best excuse of all time. Why walk if your steps will not count?

9. Friend: “Fitbits aren’t accurate.” *gets all defensive* You: “Yes they are.”

Who wants a friend that is going to be so negative? These “friends” are definitely not the people who want in your life. P.S.: Do not listen to those fake friends. Fitbit steps are accurate!

10. "I have 10,000 steps.”

The best feeling possible is when you are walking and all of a sudden your Fitbit buzzes. The moment you have been waiting for. You can finally brag that you reached 10,000 steps.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
