Everyone knows that Thanksgiving is America's holiday. Yeah, yeah, Fourth of July is awesome but nothing sounds better than falling asleep with a pumpkin pie on your lap and turkey in your mouth. We all end up there, but how? Let's examine.

1. Going home and meeting the family again. "Do you have a boyfriend?" "Are you getting settled down yet?" "How's your job? Are you getting a promotion?"

2. Inevitably this leads us straight to the wine.

3. And after the wine starts flowing, so does the talk of politics, public policy, and how Grandma had to walk to school uphill both ways through the snow.

4. Which starts the sibling fights.

5. Then begins the sweet, sweet silence as we all enjoy more wine and more turkey.

6. Slowly, ever so slowly, dessert is brought up. Pie? Ice cream? Cookies?

7. And after dessert comes wine. All day. All night.

8. Wine during football.

9. Wine as we all fall asleep with full bellies.

10. And when the morning light shines again, there's leftovers and wine to wash them down.
