Before I got to college I would daydream about how absolutely perfect it was going to be, and the beauty of being free and on my own. Now, after a whole month of being here, I realize not everything is rainbows and butterflies. Here are my 10 pet peeves about college.

1. No air conditioning.

Yes, I may be going to college in the snowiest city in America (Syracuse, New York), but this is ridiculous. As I am writing this I am dying. For someone who sleeps better when she's cold, this heat is miserable. Where are you fall?

2. Messy bathrooms.

This is a biggie. First of all, we are all adults here, we should really start to act like it and the fact that my floor has had a meeting about it at ten at night is not okay. I don't understand how hard it is to keep the drains unclogged, and get your bodily fluids in the toilet. It's not rocket science.

3. Slow walkers.

For this one, I may or may not be exaggerating. I am the student who likes to get to her class at least ten minutes early. So naturally, I leave my dorm thirty minutes early just in case (this is highly unnecessary, I know). I should clarify my point, when I say slow walkers I mean the groups of people who crowd then entire walkway in front of me. They prevent me from getting to class ten minutes early and that is not okay for my stress levels, because God forbid I am only seven minutes early.

4. The stairs.

If you don't go to Syracuse, you probably have no idea what I am talking about. Well I was so fortunate to get the dorm building that is on top of a giant hill. So, every time I need to go to campus for class or other events, I get to walk up and down 117 stairs everyday, multiple times. Add a backpack full of textbooks and you have yourself quite a workout. The bright side to this is, if I skip a workout, I am all good!

5. My late schedule.

For me, I like getting up and starting my day. I don't like to sleep the day away. I also love having my nights to do homework and get ahead on things. Well, my class schedule is all late. For instance, tomorrow is Thursday, and I don't have class until 11 and my last class ends at 9:15 at night. Yes, at night. So, I get back and my morning is basically gone. The bright side to this, is I have time in the morning to work out before class.

6. The drunk people outside my window.

I am all for going out and having fun, but when you stand outside my window and are yelling, and screaming at 3:00 in the morning, that is when I am not all for it. Some people try to sleep.

7. Not always having rainbow sprinkles.

This is so important. I love having an ice cream machine in the dining hall and enjoying that every single night, but when they don't always have my rainbow sprinkles, it really puts me down. Those are a necessity.

8. Microwavable chicken nuggets.

I am a chicken nugget addict, and the saddest thing in the world is having to MICROWAVE them. It is NOT the same as putting them in the oven. This is tragic.

9. Laundry Prices.

All I want are clean clothes. I am also a broke college freshmen. The prices could be a bit lower, that would be fantastic. Like, I highly encourage it.

10. When no bathrooms are open.

This is possibly one of the worst ones. You get all ready to go get a shower, you have your towels and your little shower caddy, you walk all the way down the hallway just to find that none of the showers are open. Good. Just perfect.

Despite these pet peeves, college life is great. It is full of new experiences and new people. Coming here has helped open my eyes to new opportunities and give me confidence to chase my dreams. Life is fun and busy and exciting and the next four years are bound to be some of my best.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
