Thanksgiving is great. It's break from the reality of school placed right before finals. What more could you ask for? Here are a few reasons why college students are thankful for Thanksgiving break.
1. The Food. We finally get the chance to eat food that was not purchased with dining bucks or made in a microwave. You can eat whatever you want and as much of it as you want, and absolutely no one will judge you. That's awesome for someone who loves food as much as I do.
2. Sleeping in your own bed. This is a huge deal. After sleeping in a not-so-great bed for a few months, my own comfy bed at home is such a relief
3. Showering without shoes. This may seem weird, but living in a dorm with community showers is somewhat disgusting. So anytime I get to shower without flip flops on and actually feel clean is a blessing.
4. Relaxation. Thanksgiving break is a time when we all try to forget about our everyday responsibilities. We block thoughts of classes, homework assignments and finals out of our minds. Although it's probably not the best plan in hindsight, it's worth it in the moment. I mean, we all need time to regroup, right?
5. No classes. On the same note, we don't have to worry about making it to all of our classes on time everyday. That's something we should all be happy about.
6. Sleeping late. I'm the type of person who has to set six alarms to wake up in the morning, so I am pumped that all of those alarms will be turned off and I can sleep as late as I want. I don't think I'm alone on this one.
7. Pets. Whether you're a cat person, dog person or kangaroo person, the hardest part about being away at college is being away from our pets. They're our true friends and we miss them as much (if not more) as the humans in our lives.
8. Black Friday. May the shopping commence, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
9. Friends. I miss my friends from home like crazy, so I'm super excited to spend some time with them over break. It's so much fun to catch up with them and hear updates on their lives.
10. Family. We haven't seen them in months, so it's pretty exciting. Of course, they will ask a millions of questions to figure out how our lives in college are, but we love them anyway.
