Growing up as an only child is a lot more fun than everyone thinks. As a child, you never had to compete for your patent's attention, share any of your toys or Grandma's baked cookies. As an adult, I've never had to hear that dreaded phrase, "Why can't you be more like your sister?" Basically, being the only child is awesome, because:
1. You’re self-motivated.

You work extremely hard to not only make your parents proud, but yourself proud. As your parents' only child, it's up to you to work as hard as you can to be the successful child they've always wanted.
2. You’re an old soul.
You're a hopeless romantic. You go the extra mile to show the one you love how much they mean to you. It's the little things in life that make you really appreciate someone.
3. Your best friends become your siblings.
You fight, laugh, cry, and make amazing memories with your friends as if they were your siblings. You celebrate the best times and accept each other at your worst times, just like real sisters.
4. You’re mature for your age.
Spending most of your time with adults has made you more mature than your peers. You usually assume the role of the mom of the group. You look out for everyone and put others before yourself. This may be tough sometimes, but in the end you wouldn't have it any other way.
5. Your parents are 100 percent focused on you.
There's no need to fight for your parents' attention. Your parents are there to help you achieve your goals and dreams. In their eyes, you'll always be their baby. Alright, maybe we're a little spoiled...with love!
6. Your parents go all out for the holidays.
On your birthday, Christmas, Easter, and more. There are presents galore!
7. You’re creative.
You're imagination is much stronger than most because you were always thinking of new ways to keep yourself entertained as a kid. You'd create stories for your Barbies, imaginary friends, or bury yourself in a fictional book, all while using your imagination.
8. You’re independent.
Spending a sufficient amount of time alone helped you grow up to depend on yourself. Being alone doesn't scare you. In fact, you enjoy it most of the time.
9. You never had to share your room…or anything else.

Everything you've ever owned only belonged to you... until college.
10. You’re incredibly close to your parents.
You'd be lost without the love and support of your parents. You're incredibly thankful for everything they've done for you. As you grow up your parents become more than your guardians. They're your role models, cheerleaders, and most of all, your best friends.
