1. Spend the day at the beach!
Did you and your significant other get a day off? Head down for a beautiful trip to South Haven! South Haven is one of the closest beach towns to the area and allows college students the chance to get away to enjoy the weather. Be sure to enjoy the good food, beaches, entertainment, and of course, shopping. Don’t forget to catch the sunset at the lighthouse for a breath-taking and oh so, romantic view!
2. Walk around downtown Kalamazoo.
Downtown Kalamazoo has a ton of amazing festivals, which makes summers here even better! Be sure to watch the event calendar to experience all that Kalamazoo has to offer. You can start by taking your special someone on a casual stroll downtown to enjoy the thrift shops, architecture, and city parks.
3. The Alamo.
Nothing says date night like going to dinner and a movie, am I right? Well, be sure to plan a night at The Alamo where you can get dinner and drinks while viewing a movie! The Alamo is located conveniently downtown and serves as the perfect first date.

The low lighting, downtown atmosphere, and live music are sure to sweep any partner off their feet!
5. West Michigan Brewery Tours.
You have lived in Kalamazoo long enough to enjoy the variety of breweries, but have you taken the time to really relish the art of brewing? Sign you and your loved one up for a West Michigan Brewery tour today! These tours consist of public or private tours in which you can bus, bike, or walk through three different breweries and appreciate all that West Michigan has to offer.

6. Farmers Markets.
This requires getting up rather early, but is totally worth it! From late fall and all throughout summer, you can find handpicked or handmade goodies from local farmers and growers from all over Michigan. These markets are in various communities closely located to Kalamazoo and will give you and your significant other the opportunity to enjoy the morning together.
7. Sky Zone Trampoline Park.
Are you still a kid at heart? No problem! Sky Zone does not discriminate against age, however, you may have to pay the adult rate as opposed to the kid rates. Set up a memorable date night by scheduling a time to participate in a several programs and activities and enjoy seeing each other’s silly sides. This is sure to be the start of something special if this is a first date idea!
8. Walk Western Michigan University's campus.
You’re probably thinking that you’ve had enough of WMU’s campus throughout the school year, however, nothing is more special then strolling Western Michigan’s empty campus during the summer time. Start the evening by making a few stops at Miller Fountain, the fountain near Sangren Hall, Bernhard Center and even, Goldsworth Valley Pond!
9. Asylum Lake Preserve.
Spend the day being adventurous at Asylum Lake Preserve right of Drake Road in Kalamazoo. There are various trails and paths to follow that will lead you both to beautiful scenic views. You are bound to find a special place to have a picnic or just lie in the grass and watch the clouds pass. At Asylum Lake, you’ll find people from the community coming to spend the day on the pond fishing, walking their pets, and others working out. Don’t forget to bring bug spray and remember the park closes at dusk!
10. Binder Park Zoo.
Binder Park Zoo is home to many animals in the Kalamazoo area. Take your loved one on a fun and educational trip right near Kalamazoo! The park is open from mid-April until early October for your chance to view the animals. Be sure to make a trip there before it closes for the rest of the year!
