The world we live in revolves around the concept of balance. Just as you can always count on certain people to be there when you need support, you can always count on certain others to show up in the hopes of holding you back. Of course, when it comes to ANY relationship, it's a given that we will have to repeatedly give and take over time. But what happens in those relationships where we only end up giving? No matter who you are or what you do, you have absolutely no chance of ever living a positive life around negative people. So what are they still doing there? Let the warning stand: what you put up with, you end up with.
1. Those who are selfish with your time.
When someone constantly steals you away for their own personal gain, it's called being taken advantage of. And what's more, it's not showing any respect for the other important people and opportunities present in your life.
2. Those who criticize you waaaay too often.
This one speaks for itself. Get a life. Who has nothing better to do with their time than tear others down under the false pretense of being "constructive." Honesty and feedback are positive things, but they can quickly turn negative when used in constant attacks.
3. Those who play the victim ALL THE TIME.
These individuals practically invented the blame game. When it comes to their mistakes and shortcomings, they never admit accountability. As a matter of fact, it can be anyone's fault, so long as it isn't theirs. Grow. up.
4. Those who only think in a negative mindset.
The only thing you can do when it comes to people like this is to feel sorry for them. Going through life with an anxious, pessimistic or depressed mindset is a waste. To avoid getting dragged into their downward spiral, keep your distance. Trust me, you'll end up living a much longer and happier life.
5. Those who lose their temper and end up exhausting your energy in the process.
These are the ones who will tire you faster than any other person out there. These short-fused people are underdeveloped psychologically and emotionally. Sure it may be healthy for them to let off steam, but it sure isn't healthy for you to absorb the fallout.
6. Those who could care less about empathy or compassion.
Humanity is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Sadly, these people lack all aspects involved, including empathy and compassion. They will never understand your problems or help you overcome pain. Instead, they will continue being self-centered and unwilling to place themselves in another's shoes.
7. Those who lie like a rug.
Trust and honesty mean nothing to these individuals. And as a result, neither will you.
8. Those who don't think twice about exploiting you.
These are people only interested in using you to get something they want for themselves. Anytime they have a conversation with you, there is ALWAYS a hidden agenda involved. So don't make time to pencil them in when it comes to yours.
9. Those who not only hurt you, but do so on purpose.
It's bad enough when someone hurts you, but deliberately? With a wide range of tactics and remarks, these individuals seek to injure you simply because they can.
10. Those who are stressed to their breaking point.
We have too much stress of our own to deal with, without having to handle that of those hovering over us. If we want to survive, or even maintain a bit of sanity in this crazy world we live in, we need to cut some ties.
Oftentimes, the first step to getting what you want is having the courage to get rid or what you don't. If someone brings nothing but toxic negativity into your life, don't feel guilty about having to say goodbye. Sometimes we expect more from others simply because we'd be willing to do more for them. Yet, as they saying goes, we eventually find out who really matters, who never did, who won't anymore, and who always will. So go be happy with those who plan on doing the same.
