Having lived in the bay area all my life, I know the ins and outs of San Francisco. I’ve spent countless weekends just exploring the city with friends and family, and giving visiting relatives an informal tour of The Golden City. Due to this, I know the best bench to have a deep talk to where you can get the tastiest panini.

San Francisco has millions of places to see, and the list is never ending. However, here are my top 10 favorite San Francisco destinations!

1. Pier 39

A part of Fishermen’s Wharf, Pier 39 is home to a bustling seaside marketplace, making it one of the most popular San Francisco spots. In addition, Pier 39 has plenty of wildlife, including the very entertaining sea lions.

2. Japanese Tea Garden

Located inside Golden Gate Park, this beautifully scenic garden is the oldest Japanese garden in the United States. With it’s naturalistic vibe and authentic Japanese architecture, this is a spot you CANNOT miss.

3. Twin Peaks

These two hills are at an elevation of about 925 feet above ground, giving you a bird's eye view of the entire city!

4. Lombard Street

One of the most iconic places in San Francisco, this street is known for it’s steep crookedness and many turns. This is a popular site for taking pictures, because of it’s unique perspective of San Francisco.

5. Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory

Visiting this place is a must, especially for any ice cream and chocolate lovers! When you go inside the restaurant, you can even see the process of how they mix their world famous chocolate!

6. Union Square

Union Square is the perfect place for you to indulge your inner-shopaholic. It’s a extremely lively place that’s bustling with people, musicians, and a multitude of shops! Bring your credit card, and shop till you drop!

7. Chinatown

San Francisco is the home to the largest Chinatown outside of Asia. Full of Chinese history and culture, Chinatown is the perfect place to go souvenir shopping, eat, and learn more about Chinese American history in California.

8. Palace of Fine Arts

This is honestly one of the most beautiful monuments I have ever seen. A popular prom and wedding photo destination, the Palace of Fine Arts is a absolutely breathtaking site.

9. North Beach

North Beach is San Francisco’s “Little Italy”. It’s a neighborhood that has a very authentic, romantic vibe to it. It has many small streetside shops and restaurants, making it a perfect date destination.

10. The Golden Gate Bridge

Look at this picture. Enough said.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
