Music festivals have taken over summer 2015. What is better than a weekend full of music, good food and great times with your friends, right? Sure, social media makes it look amazing and makes you completely jealous that you’re sitting at home and not with thousands of strangers, singing along to your favorite artists at the top of your lungs. Social media may give you ideas for the perfect music festival fashion, but it doesn’t give you tips on how to be prepared for your weekend adventure. Before heading off to your magical festival, make sure you have following things:
1. CHECK THE WEATHER
Before you begin packing or even start deciding which artists you must see, make sure you check the weather for your event. It’ll make packing so much easier for you. Also, you won’t find yourself saying, “I wish I would have brought this or that.”
2. WATER/GATORADE AND LOTS OF IT!
Staying hydrated will make your festival experience ten times better. After spending hours out in the hot sun and sweating in a crowd of people, you will be so thankful for having plenty of H20 and electrolytes! Gatorade chews are also lifesavers and a bit on the high dollar side, but so worth it!
3. MAKE PRE-PREPARED FOOD
By prepping food in advance - such as chicken or burgers - you will not only save time, but also money. Be sure to bring a grill, too. Even though the venue most likely has some delicious food trucks from around the world, they can be expensive. Let’s be real, festivals are expensive and this will help you out if you’re a baller on a budget.
4. FANNY PACK
Fanny packs are so 90s, but for music festival goers, it is a definite must have. This is the absolute best way to keep all your belongings safe and you never have to worry about losing anything because it’s literally attached to your hip.
5. A SOLAR CHARGER
You’re probably thinking this is obvious, but honestly, how many people do you know with a solar charger? Exactly. A solar charger will not only save your phone's battery life, but it will also save you from killing your car's battery. With that being said, you should probably make sure you have jumper cables, as well, just in case.
6. CAMP SHOWER
After about day two of roughing it for the weekend, you are most likely going to want to take a shower. A camp shower is a portable gallon bag of water that you can hang up and instantly become so fresh and so clean. This way you won’t have to wait in line to take a shower - you can just have one right at your own campsite.
7. CAMEL PACK
Having a camel pack is way easier than lugging around a water bottle all day. Just like a fanny pack you don’t have to worry about losing it because you just carry it on your back. It holds way more water than a normal water bottle and is easy to fill up at the water stations.
8. A GOOD PAIR OF SANDALS
Tevas or Chacos are the ideal sandal brands for a festival. They come in cute designs and are made for every kind of weather. Also, they stay on your feet great. The only downside is you might get a crazy tan line on your feet from the straps. But at least you won’t lose them.
9. SUNSCREEN
Sunburn makes everyone miserable, so lather up!!! You’re most likely going to be standing in a field, with no shelter from the sun, for most of the day, so be sure to apply this stuff everywhere. No one wants to miss out on a good time because of sun poisoning.
10. TOILET PAPER
Porta potties suck, but they suck even more if they don’t have toilet paper. This is a must, especially if you don’t feel like standing in line and you see a tree where you can get the job done faster.
These are just some of the essentials that are needed to make your experience run smoothly. Summer 2016 will be here before you know it, so be sure to remember these tips. After all, you can never be too prepared. Also, don’t forget to have an unforgettable time!
