Sometimes life is just crappy, plain and simple. Everything can be fine and then just the next day it seems that the carpet is being ripped away from under your feet and you are expected to pick up the pieces. And while I am always for picking up the pieces and carrying on because these are the moments that truly define us and make us stronger, it's okay to take a quick break and to just be sad for a moment. Allowing yourself to feel those emotions is better than pushing them away and pretending like they don't exist. Because truth be told they will catch up with you eventually. And so for the moments when you are just really sad here's a list of movies that you can watch when you just really need a good cry.

1. Titanic

I mean, this is just an obvious choice! Even though the movie came out over 20 years ago (which is absolutely insane!), no one has truly ever gotten over the fact that Rose just didn't try to drag him onto that door. So if you need a good cry this is definitely a solid choice for you.

2. Ghost

Another classic right there. This movie really shows that love can last even beyond death and that there is absolutely nothing that could ever change that. The suspense in the movie adds to the drama and just makes it even more of a tearjerker. If you loved Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing you will love this movie as well.

3. PS: I Love You

This movie adaption from Cecelia Ahern's bestseller will leave no eyes dry. The whole storyline is just incredibly touching. Holly is trying to get over the death of her husband who has decided to try and help her with this by sending her letters for one year after his death. Just like real life this movie is about love, grief, letting go and trying to move on.

4. Forrest Gump

Come on?! Who has not seen Forrest Gump? I don't even think it's possible for anyone to not love that movie. From the minute you are introduced to the main character you are can't help it but love him and feel with him as he embarks on his crazy life journey with all of its ups and downs. Just like his mama said: Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get.

5. Marley and Me

Even if you are not a big dog lover, this movie could be the right choice for you. As the movie goes on you will become attached to that bundle of sheer energy. It's a different kind of love that this movie shows you. Instead of showing you the love between people which is what most movies are about, this movie shows you the love between humans and their dog, which makes it, oddly enough, even more intense.

6. Me Before You

Ugh, if you have read the book then you know exactly what this movie is about. I don't want to take too much away if you are unfamiliar with it but let me tell you, as beautiful as it, it is just as sad and heartbreaking. Definitely one of the top choices if you need a really good cry.

7. Philadelphia

What an extraordinary story. The movie was released at a time when there was still such a big stigma around HIV/AIDS. But even if you watch it right now, this movie will definitely get to you. It shows you how cruel the world can be but at the same time that it is always good and that love can conquer all, even beyond death.

8. Dead Poets Society

Just the fact that Robin Williams has been gone for four years is reason enough to cry. One could argue that playing Mr. Keating in this movie was one of his best performances if not the best. The storyline, which is about a teacher and his English students in a boarding school, is so beautiful and tragic at the same time that it is the perfect movie to watch if you are in need for a good cry.

9. Saving Private Ryan

This might be a bit of a more unconventional choice. Nevertheless, this is an incredible story which is based on true events, shows you the horrors of World War II and the unbelievable courage that these men had by putting their lives on the line to bring a boy home to his mother who had already lost three sons. Especially, the end will get to you, I promise.

10. Pretty much any Nicholas Sparks movie ever!

There is not a single Nicholas Sparks movie that I have watched where I didn't end up sobbing my eyes out. To be honest, I haven't seen them all but I am pretty sure I would end up crying at every single one of them. There is just something so incredibly beautiful and tragic about them. Love, death, hope, and devastation are so closely intertwined that it can really blur the lines sometimes.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
