The Harry Potter series was always a huge part of my life. From reading the books to watching the movies, I could never get enough of this magnificent series. Each time I read the books I learned something more about the hidden themes present. Here are some inspiring quotes that are worth a read.

1. “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” ― "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone"

Harry is reminded to not focus on the past gone, or future that could have been, but to live in the moment and stay tuned to the present.

2. “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” ― "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone"

Courage is very important in life. Courage is not always about fighting your enemies, but confronting your friends and yourself.

3. "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." -- "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"

When life seems impossible, it is important to remember the blessings that surround you.

4.“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” ― "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"

We all have weaknesses and inabilities. It is our decisions that we focus on, and sometimes the right choice is not the easy one.

5. "Working hard is important. But there is something that matters more: believing in yourself." - Harry Potter

One must believe in themselves in order to succeed. Without the ability to believe, hard work may not always pay off.

6. “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals” – "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"

Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. Sirius Black points out that everyone with kindness is important.

7. “Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.” – "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"

Dumbledore again shows the importance of choices. When times get rough, think about your decisions and their potential impact.

8. “Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” – "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"

Karma exists. Everything will work out for the best, even if they are not in the ways you expect.

9. "Do not pity the dead. Pity the living. And above all, pity those without love." - "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"

Many have felt loss. Instead of feeling bad for those people who are now in a better place, feel for those who live every day without love, those who are empty.

10. "Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it." -- "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"

Every word that is said has an impact, no matter how big or small. Instead of using them to cause pain, we can use them to bring love and joy.

I hope that this article will help others recognize the life lessons that J.K. Rowling has strategically placed in each of her pieces. I will one day re-read this books to my children and hope that they understand the benefits that the teachings of these books can have on lives.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
