Have you ever looked back on your past and have reevaluated your life? If there's anything my experiences have taught me to become a better person. Stop looking back at the past, and learn how to move on with your life. The best thing you can do for yourself, is to pick yourself up and to learn from your mistakes. Taking responsibility for your actions will give you a whole new perspective on life. Here are a few reasons why we should all take the time to learn from our mistakes.
1. God will never abandon you.
Whenever you feel as if you're alone, you aren't. God will always be by your side. Throughout troubled times I would turn to people, materials, or anything that could ease my anxiety. I never found any comfort in any of these things. When I turned my life to God, my whole perspective of life changed.
2. That boy was not worth it.
The boy who broke your heart, does not deserve you. Countless nights of crying on the phone to your best friend, stalking his social media pages, and questioning if you were ever good enough will some come to an end. Eventually you will grow tired of it, and will learn how much more you are really worth.
3. Everything happens for a reason.
Throughout troubled times, good times are yet on the way. When dealing with rough patches in life, it helps you appreciate the good times. God has a plan for each and every one of us. Our trials and triumphs help us become the person that we are today.
4. Forgive those who did you wrong. "Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." - Buddha
Forgiveness refreshes the heart and soul. Holding on to anger never allows you to grow as a person and will never help you reach happiness. Being angry towards another person, does not affect them in any way near the way it does you. Don't give someone else the satisfaction of taking away your happiness.
5. Your parents will always be your best friend, no matter what.
Throughout messy breakups, failed friendships, and all the mistakes you will make. Mom and Dad will always be there. We might not always get along, but whenever you need someone at an exact moment in time, Mom and Dad will never fail you.
6. It's okay to not be okay.
Sometimes life gets hard, and you may sometimes need a break from life. You do not have to be okay all the time. It will always be okay to take time for yourself and reevaluate your life decisions. By doing this, it will help you grow as a person when you can recognize your breaking points.
7. Words can be a powerful weapon.
Whether we choose to believe it or not, words are a powerful weapon. Words can make or break a person. Choose them wisely. The way you talk to people not only reflects on how the way you will be treated, but it tends to show the type of person you are.
8. Revenge is never the answer because karma exists.
Revenge may sound like a pleasant idea at the moment, but never forget, "What comes around, goes around." Let life play out and move forward to make you a better you.
9. Learn to love yourself, and your flaws.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[a]
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well." - Psalm 139:14
You have to learn to love yourself, before you can love anyone else. The flaws that each and every one of us carry make us who the people that we are today. None of us would be special if we all didn't have something unique about ourselves. You will be judged in everything that you do, but realize God created you because you are special.
10. The best is yet to come.
Nothing is ever permanent, things are only temporary. YOU are worthy, YOU are important, and YOU have a purpose. Life can be a wild ride you just have to prepare for the ups and downs that come along with it.
