Shonda Rhimes goes above and beyond just killing off your favorite characters and generating sob sessions that make you want to throw your TV out the window. Between Meredith's darkness, Christina's heartlessness, Bailey's toughness and all the tragedies in between, "Grey's Anatomy" demonstrates more than a basic appendectomy. Let's take a look at some of "Grey's" best life lessons that could apply to anyone.

1. Surround yourself with good people

Surround yourself with the people that will be there for you in your toughest times. Everybody needs somebody. Find the person that will start your Monday morning with a dance party and end your Friday night at the bar. Find your Christina. Find your person.

2. It's okay to make mistakes

Even McDreamy can admit to it, but that's what makes us all human. What's more important is to learn from them. Bumps in the road are made for us to maneuver around them.

3. Don't dwell on the past

We could all use a good cry every once in a while. But when it gets to the point that the past is interfering with the present, it might be time to suck it up and get over it.

4. Value yourself

It can be easy to get caught up in pleasing others, but sometimes it's necessary to put yourself first. It's not selfish. It just means you're smart enough to realize that you can't value others if you don't value yourself first.

5. Hard work pays off

Attitude is everything. If you put everything into achieving your goal, you will see progress. Be your own role model, mentor, boss, and leader. Work your butt off, and it'll pay off.

6. Tell people how much they mean to you

Tell your family you love them. Tell your friends you couldn't live without them. Tell your teachers, co-workers, roommates, and anyone else that you appreciate them. You never know what kind of a difference it could make in their lives. And do it before it's too late.

7. It's okay to be scared

The Chief says it all. Feeling something is far more privileged than not feeling anything at all.

8. Believe in something

If you can't find anything to believe in, believe that everything happens for a reason. Believe that there is a purpose for everyone in your life and everyone that used to be. Believe that there is always good to come.

9. Take things one step at a time

Especially if you're overwhelmed. What's the rush? Tomorrow's a new beginning and you can only get there by getting through today.

10. Sometimes, dancing it out fixes everything

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
