The Top 10 Lessons We Learned From "Love Actually"

We are in the holiday season, the season known for the mass amounts of hot cocoa, candy canes, decorated Christmas trees, children singing carols, Christmas movies, and mall Santas. One of the best seasonal movies is Love Actually, a Christmas-time Rom Com about 10 intertwining love stories. Here are the ten things we’ve learned from this flick.

1. Don't let your past dictate your future

We’ve all had our hearts broken at one point or another, and sometimes we feel we can only afford unrequited love, or we’ll be alone forever. Don’t let your past dictate your future, you never know who will come into your life.

2. Build up the courage

Build up the courage to ask that girl or guy out on a date, even if you’re shy, it will be worth it in the end.

3. Life is messy

Life is messy, unexpected, and busy, don’t spend your entire life living for someone else. Respect yourself enough to allow yourself to make time for love.

4. Love is total agony

Love is total agony sometimes, make sure you have a good friend to complain to about it.

5. Let 'em know what you want

Sometimes being forward works, try it out.

6. Tell them how you feel

It’s difficult to tell someone how you feel, but once you do, you will feel so much better. Take a leap of faith, and tell that person you like them.

7. Love knows no boundaries

Love knows no boundaries. You cannot always predict who you'll fall in love with.

8. Being in love is difficult

Being in love is difficult. You trust one person with your entire being, and you open yourself up to potential rejection. Amidst the hard times, remember how beautiful being in love truly is.

9. Keep your eyes open

Sometimes you will find the love of your life in unexpected people and places. Keep your eyes open towards love.

10. You are worth love

Whenever you’re feeling down, remember that if Colin can find love, so can you.

Love actually is all around.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
