As a Syracuse University student, there are certain insiders that only we know and understand. Here are my top 10.
1. Thirsty Thursdays at DJ's.
You'd be lying if you said that you never went out to DJ's on a Thursday night to start off the weekend. Nothing explains a typical DJ's night like tearing the dance floor up until the lights come on and casually seeing everyone you know.
2. Schine quesadillas are life.
Can you think of anything more perfect besides the quesadillas at the Schine Student Center? All I know is that you must order extra cheese.
3. Otto is the best mascot.
There is no doubt in any sane person's mind, whether they go to Syracuse University or not, that Otto is the best school mascot ever. I never thought I'd like fruits, but Otto definitely changed my mind. Otto is easily the pride of our school and brings the most joy into every SU students' lives.
4. You'll make it to the tailgate, but you might not make it to the game.
Let's be honest, game day is a very intense day at Cuse. Sometimes events at Castle get so fun that students can't even bring themselves to leave.
5. Class will never be cancelled.
Rain, snow, hurricane, tornado or any other natural disaster you may think of will never cancel classes. Be prepared to walk to class in any weather conditions...literally.
6. The struggle to get up to the Mount.
The stairs. That is all.
7. The struggle to get on the campus story.
As pathetic as it sounds, nearly every SU student aspires to get featured on the campus story. Getting on the Snapchat story basically makes you famous for the 24 hours that your snap is up.8. You have to hit up Archbold Gymnasium to avoid the freshman-15.
Between ordering Insomnia Cookies during the late hours of the night and eating pounds of Calios, it is actually concerning how easy it is to put on the freshman-15 at Syracuse University. By running, playing basketball and swimming, you're sure to lose some weight (that is, until you start ordering again).
9. Boeheim is the GOAT.
As depicted in the image below, it is clear to see that Boeheim is very passionate about our men's basketball team. With his encouragement and determination, he carried us to the Final Four this past year and gives us the school spirit that makes Syracuse so special.
10. Syllabus week is the best week.
With no work and constantly going out, syllabus week is every college kid's dream come true. Although this may apply to all college campuses, us Syracuse students know that we do it right.
