If you have yet to jump on the Netflix bandwagon and start binge watching shows, I’m not even sure if you can be considered a college student. Anywho, once you do sign up for Netflix, I highly recommend watching "How I Met Your Mother." Not only is it filled with tons of laughs and memorable characters, but it is also filled with beneficial lessons for every college kid. Here are a few that are important to remember throughout your college journey.
1. “Live in the moment.”
It sounds very cliche, I’ll admit, but college Ted Mosby knew what he was talking about when he emphasized this overused phrase. Every so often, look around you. Look at the friends you’ve made, the memories you’ve shared and everything that you have going for you in the present moment.
2. Staying in and studying is a great thing to do.
Sure, it seems like fun to go out every single night of every single weekend, but honestly, are you really going to miss anything if you don’t go out one night? No, because there are parties happening all the time at college.
3. On the other hand, going out once in awhile isn’t a horrible thing either.
4. Going along with the topic of parties, this memorable Ted Mosby quote should be a rule you devoutly live by.
5. Take a break from the dining hall food every once in a while.
Believe me, you’ll appreciate spending a bit of cash on good food.
6. You can learn a lot from philosophy class, no matter how confusing it may seem.
7. Always plan where you’re going to eat with friends before leaving campus.
8. You’ll have days where you feel down, and that’s okay.
You’re not always going to be happy.
9. Stay in touch with your friends.
Even if they’re not studying the same thing as you, or even go to the same school as you.
