As lights are hung on trees and houses with care and college students are finishing up their fall semester of classes (also known as Hell Week), the Christmas season and holiday cheer begins to fill the hearts of many. However, life is good, and there are just some things that will inevitably happen this Christmas season.
1.You will get a present you do not want and you have no use for…
I mean, although a shopping bag has its purposes, I will never remember to bring it to the store with me. It will collect dust in my car and will be forgotten till next Christmas, when you get another one that matches it.
2. You will get something that doesn’t fit
Although that XXS shirt is so cute and would go with the new boots Santa gave me, it will probably not fit over my big head.
3.Someone from your family will get extremely drunk
Although this is usually extremely funny, it gets a little old after you have helped them sing "Let It Snow" for the 10th time in a row.
4. The one day of the year everyone wants it to snow, it won’t
It will snow 15 ft. the next day, but never in enough time to have a white Christmas.
5.You will spend time with high school friends.
Let's be completely honest, the moment we stepped on campus, we have been counting down to see you lovely faces again. So close, yet so far away!
6. You will probably spend more time with your dog or cat than you will with anyone else.
Although hugs from family members is great, snuggling with your dog or cat is the best thing to happen to you since you’ve gotten home.
7.You will not have to check your email, Blackboard, or any other school related website.
Four entire weeks of complete silence from the school. No one will be emailing you about assignments due or exams that will be coming up. This time is yours to relax.
8.Your Ugly Christmas Sweater will be worn out
It’s the time of year that ugly Christmas sweater’s are brought out from retirement and worn almost 24/7. Most events are known as ugly Christmas sweater events.
9.In some places, you will have to listen to people sing Christmas Carols
While they sound amazing, they will also make you realize how horrible your singing voice is and how much you wish you could sing, preferably like Beyonce!
10.You will be asked for money by a Salvation Army volunteer/worker
It is the giving season. Even a quarter or two will do some help. I mean, that’s the least you can do for those freezing men and women who have to stay in the wintery weather for quite some time.
Although all of the crazy antics of Christmas can get a little annoying, tis' the season of giving, laughter and fun family times together. If it gets too crazy for your enjoyment, just smile and nod, smile and nod.
