Oh what I would give to be a little kid again where my biggest struggle was deciding what snack to eat after a long day at school. Here are 10 of my all time favorite indulgences from my childhood.
1. Dorito’s 3Ds
Not only are regular Doritos delicious, but put any food into mini form and it automatically becomes 10 times better. If you brought these in your lunch box you were guaranteed to be asked by at least five other people, “Can I have some?”
2. Dunkaroos
This may have been the best snack of all time that unfortunately has been discontinued. Let’s face it, what little kid doesn’t love scooping straight frosting onto an already sugar infested cookie?
3. Trix Yogurt
These double sided yogurt cups were all the rage when my generation was younger. So maybe your parents wouldn’t buy all of the sugar snacks, these were the next best thing.
4. Little Hugs
Coming from someone whose parents refused to buy these severely unhealthy beverages, I always ran to these bad boys at birthday parties. Although thinking about it, I can realize why my mom refused to keep them in the house. Trust me, do not look up the nutrition label for these juices, it’s slightly frightening.
5. Trix Cereal… when it had the shapes
Sure, this delicious cereal still exists today but not in the same form as in the 90s. Farewell to the cute little shaped cereal, hello to rainbow puff balls. Maybe it’s just me, but Trix just is not the same without the shapes.
6. Dinosaur Eggs Oatmeal
Okay so I have to admit, even as a junior in college, I still eat this oatmeal on a weekly basis. Maybe it is because I’m a huge Jurassic Park fan or maybe it is purely based on the fact that this is the most incredible oatmeal that exists.
7. Scooby Doo Fruit Snacks
I do not even know what to say about these fruit snacks other than that they rocked my childhood.
8. Cosmic Brownies
These brownies were the ultimate trading item at the lunch table. It did not matter who had the cosmic brownie, you could get any snack you wanted just for trading this sugary goodness with your neighbor.
9. Candy Cigarettes
In retrospect I can tell why these do not exist anymore. It seems a bit wrong to market a candy in the form of a cancerous cigarette. However, I can recall countless summer nights buying these from the ice cream truck with my brothers and boy were they worth chasing the truck down the street!
10. Wonder Balls
I do not know what was better, the shell of straight milk chocolate or the surprise inside that shell that made these so amazing. Whatever it was, I always begged my mom at the grocery store checkout to buy me one for the ride home.
Nothing quite compares to these childhood treats from the 90s. If these snacks are still on the market and you have not tried them, be sure to run out and grab them while you can!
