Winter is cold, and contrary to its name, spring semester actually takes place primarily during the winter. This means that you will have to not only bear the cold weather, but learn to thrive in it. Here are some guaranteed ways that will help you brave the cold:
1. Don’t go to class
The easiest way to stay warm on your walk to class is to avoid the cold altogether and skip class. Everyone knows how hard it is to leave a warm bed on a cold day so just stay in it. Plus, you will probably learn more about the law watching 5 episodes of "Making a Murderer" than in your intro to law class.
2. Pit stops
This method may quadruple the time it takes you to get to class, but it is sure to keep you warm--and full. Instead of walking straight to class, proceed to stop in every single restaurant that you pass. Restaurants are always heated and happen to serve food, helping you kill two birds with one stone!
3. Hoverboard
We all have heard that these hoverboards, which actually don’t hover, tend to overheat and catch on fire. This is usually a bad thing, and has led to many retailers from taking them off their shelves. But when you are forced to go to class in subzero weather by your cold hearted school president, you can use a burning hoverboard for heat. It will not only help you look very, uh, cool on your way to class but will keep you warm with its electrical fire.
4. Group walking
So, everyone knows that there is power in numbers, but I bet that not everyone knows there is also heat in numbers! That’s right, walking to class in a huddle with your roommates will not only keep you safe, it will also keep you warm.
5. Fleece onesie
If you have ever had the pleasure of wearing a fleece onesie, then you know the thermal energy that these things can contain. Wearing a fleece onesie under your clothes is a sure fire method to keep you warm on your walk to class. Just be warned that once you arrive at your overly warm class, the onesie may cause you to become hotter than you ever thought possible.
6. Sprinting
Running at full speed to class will help you survive the cold in two different ways. One, you will cut down the time it takes to get to class which means less time in the cold. Two, for people like me, sprinting even just for short distances is incredibly hard and always helps me achieve a body temperature which brings about profuse sweating. This method will also score you points with your professors because who doesn’t love a student with a little bit of hustle!
7. Macklemore’s fur coat
Not only can a fur coat like Macklemore’s be found at a thrift store for an incredibly economical price, it will surely keep you nice and warm during the winter. If it was warm enough for a bear it is warm enough for you.
8. Eat really spicy food
Really spicy food is sure to make you feel very hot and sweat heavily. Although these conditions are usually an inconvenience, strategic eating of incredibly hot foods can be a useful tool for staying warm on your way to class. Just make sure not to eat too spicy of food or you will run the risk of being ‘that sweaty kid’ in class.
9. Keep your clothes in the freezer
It's common knowledge that temperature is a relative thing. If you are cold, hot water feels even hotter. This method takes advantage of this fact by making you colder than it is outside so that when you do embark on the trek to class it will actually feel warm. There are many ways to make yourself cold, but my personal favorite is putting on clothes that have been stored in the freezer!
10. Kev Cab
Taking a cab is nice because you will be picked up right outside of your place or residence and be dropped off right at the door to your class. And if you take Kev Cab not only will you be warm on the way to class, but you will also be entertained!
