Everyone knows those nights when you're really hungry but you don't want to put all the time and effort into cooking a 5 star meal. You usually end up eating Ramen noodles or frozen meals, because what could possibly be easier? As a lazy college student myself, but also as someone who enjoys decent food, I'm going to share a few of the simplest meals that are easy to cook and don't require a lot of time or energy.
1. Poor Man's Meal
I remember in middle school we had a large project on the Great Depression. One of the groups made what was called the Poor Man's Meal. It is a simple meal with inexpensive ingredients that many individuals ate back then. It consists merely of hot dogs and potatoes. You fry them up in a man and ta-da, meal is done! And it only costs you like, five bucks!
2. Quiche
Literally one of the easiest meals to cook. All that's really required are eggs, cheese, sour cream, and frozen pie crusts. It's not even that hard to add extra ingredients. It takes two seconds to throw in some spinach or sausage or bacon.
3. Toast and eggs
Pretty self explanatory. But if you're too lazy to toast the toast and fry the egg separately? You can even do it together in an oven! All you have to do is take a spoon or use your fingers to flatten the center of the bread, then break the egg into the cove that you make and throw it in the oven for a few minutes. And to make it even better, you can throw some cheese on it.
4. Potato Veggie Bake
Potatoes are really the ultimate food. They're great because they're inexpensive and can be eaten with anything. All you really have to do is take the time to slice them. Slice up a few potatoes and some vegetables, like carrots or broccoli, and toss them in olive oil before throwing them in the oven. Then you can Netflix all you want while you wait for it to cook.
5. Quesadillas
Do I really need to explain?6. Deviled eggs
If you like eggs and you like mayo, you're all set! Just boil the eggs, cut them in half, and mash up one of the halves with some mayo and put it in the center of the other half. They make great snacks!
7. Pigs in a blanket
Get some mini weiners, stick them in a croissant pre-made dough and shove them in the oven.
8. Waffles
Invest in a waffle maker. Nuff' said.
9. Baked chicken with veggies
Throw it all on a pan and bake it!
10. Noodles
Honestly, noodles can be eaten in so many ways. You can bake em, boil them, eat them with marinara sauce, vegetables, pesto, meat, anything. And they're so easy to make. One of my favorite meals is a noodle sausage bake. Boil some noodles and dry some sausage, stick them together with some marinara sauce and cheese and bake it.
