Being a criminal justice major makes you unique from many of the other majors at colleges around the nation. You become best friends with some of the people in your classes and know practically everyone in the program. There are some things that all criminal justice majors can relate to and know all too well.
1. Your face when someone uses the terms jail and prison interchangeably.
There is a distinct difference, and you just want to face palm when someone mixes them up.
2. You walk into class the first day and see all your friends.
You feel like the most popular person on campus until you realize there's so many people on campus you don't know.
3. When people ask you, "So you want to be a cop?"
While many people do want to be police officers, that is not the only option for criminal justice majors. There's actually a lot of other opportunities.
4. When there is a controversial debate with social work majors.
We are all friends until you bring up some major issue...then it's gloves off.
5. When freshman tell you they want to be a forensic anthropologist.
6. When people tell you your major must be easy.
Let's switch majors for a day...then you will see.
7. You watch crime documentaries for fun.
Anything that gives us a glance at our future is an attention grabber for sure.
8. When people say, "So you won't give me a ticket if you pull me over, right?"
That is not quite how that all works...but nice try.
9. We all know "Beyond Scared Straight" is not effective but still watch it.
Commenting throughout the whole thing about how ridiculous it is, but still watching.
10. And we really cannot wait to start our careers and help people.
Some people may be in the major for the wrong reasons, but most of us genuinely just want to help our communities.
