Hey guys! So I wanted to talk about the 10 "commandments" of art students that come about in college. I, as well as other art majors, experience this nearly every single day. No joke. That is why these are the 10 commandments of art students. Get ready, incoming freshman...for quite the strange experience. Good luck!
1. You shall spend all of your money on art supplies.
Because art supplies are expensive.
2. You shall cry over a project at least once. Probably in class once too...
And it will be awkward. But those art students completely understand. We're pretty chill.
3. You shall be asked to do artwork for your friends FOR FREE.
"I DON'T WANT TO PAINT KITTENS FOR YOU. I WANT TO MAKE ART!!!!!!!!!"
4. You will injure yourself with an exacto knife.
And it will hurt A LOT.
5. You will become a caffeine addict.
Coffee and energy drinks become a necessary evil between the nights of re-starting art projects.
6. You shall use "art jargon," in day to day conversation, therefore, fitting in with the "art snobs."
There really isn't a gif to explain this one...gotta just experience it. For example "phallic" refers to male genitalia in the art world.
7. You shall create a snow storm of balsa wood shavings over your entire dorm room.
I was picking this stuff up and finding it everywhere for weeks.
8. You shall become a hoarder.
Yup. Our response to your commentary about our crap ton of stuff.
9. You shall walk around with charcoal, paint, or other art substances on you 100% of the time.
Yeah...I stopped caring.
10.You shall get used to people staring at the giant black rectangle that you are carrying. Really people, it's an art portfolio! Have you never seen this before?
This is seriously what you look like.
