Remember as a child opening up your gifts and getting mad that they weren't the latest toy or the newest bike that you had been dreaming of?

Here we are 10 years later, LOVING the gifts that we hated as a kid. Sometimes the simplest gifts are the best ones, and at 20 years old, these 10 gifts are ones we all love but despised at the age of 10.

1. Socks

Everyone can relate to the struggle to find two matching socks, and that’s if you’re lucky. Sometimes they all magically disappear.

2. Gift cards

I remember rolling my eyes when I would receive these at the age of 10. Now gift cards for restaurants are one of the best presents you can receive. Free food, am I right?

3. Toiletries

The less you have to spend your own money on necessities like toothpaste, shampoo, and soap, the better. One less Walmart trip that you will have to make.

4. Clothes

In college, buying clothes can be a rare occasion. Most money is spent on food, so receiving clothes for a gift is a treasure.

5. School supplies

In college, you only need the bare minimum, but flash cards, notebooks, and a planner are a necessity.

6. Nail polish

We could care less if our nails were painted at 10, but now nail polish is a great gift… Especially for broke college students that can’t afford to get their nails done.

7. Shoes

Ladies, there’s no such thing as “too many shoes”. Shoes over boys any day.

8. Home decor

The 10-year-old me could care less how many picture frames or what kind of throw pillows that I had in my room. Now, decorations are essential to every room.

9. Savings bonds

The idea of money that I wasn’t able to spend yet didn’t sit well with me at 10 years old. These have now built value, and are a blessing to my broke self.

10. Chapstick

10 years ago, I would walk around with dry, chapped lips all the time. Now, chapstick is a must-have for me to get through the day.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
