10 weeks of camp fly by and before you know it, you're packing up your tiny section of the room and having to say goodbye to the place you called home all summer. Once you return to the real world and start the countdown until your back, you begin to miss it so much it hurts.
Here are 10 things every camp counselor is bound to miss:
1. Living simply
Living in your "camp bubble" is always better than the real world
2. Wearing animal shirts
Your hardest decision was deciding to wear your wolf shirt or grumpy cat shirt.
3. Your campers
As counselors you are supposed to do the teaching. But by the end of your time at camp, you realize it is your campers who teach and inspire you.
4. Dance Parties
Even though you are running on three hours of sleep and haven't showered, you can never leave the dance party.
5. Your Chaco tan
When the summer ends, it unfortunately means your chaco tan will soon fade.
6. Not caring how you looked
You were always willing to sacrifice a shower for some extra sleep.
7. Late night staff meetings
Before the meeting: You just want it to be over so you can go to bed.
After the meeting: You're too hyper to go to bed because you just spent the whole meeting laughing at everyone's stories of their day.
8. The anticipation of new campers coming each week
What's better than greeting campers by dancing in the road and attacking their busses when they arrive?
9. Your home away from home
There is a part of your heart that will always stay at camp.
10. Working with your best friends
The people you work with are just as crazy and strange as you. So how could you possibly NOT become best friends?
Now that you're missing camp more than usual, put on your wolf t-shirt and Chacos and throw your own dance party. But don't worry too much, because summer will be here again before you know it!
