As the semester comes to a close, final exams approach. The end of the semester is exciting, especially the thought of spending time with your family and relaxing after a long semester. However, the end of the semester also means lots of projects, presentations and of course, the dreaded finals. Here is a quick list of a few songs to keep you motivated during the tough weeks.

1. “Wait for It” - “Hamilton”

Broadway’s current hit, “Hamilton” boasts numerous inspirational hit songs to motivate and excite. However, “Wait for It” is in a class of its own, with soulful verses and a powerful chorus.

2. “Tomorrow” - “Annie”

After a particularly rough day, it’s always comforting to know that the sun will come out tomorrow. This song is a good reminder that the next day will bring new challenges, but will never be the same as the day before.

3. “Put on a Happy Face” - “Bye Bye Birdie”

It’s easy to get bogged down in stress and find yourself saddened by all you have to do. “Put on a Happy Face” is a good reminder to smile, or find something, anything to smile about and you will automatically feel a little better.

4. “Falling Slowly” - “Once”

This song may be more about romance than a tough class, but the lyrics can be applied to any difficult situation. Point the sinking boat home, because there is always still time.

5. “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” - “The Sound of Music”

The culmination of the classic musical, this song is a great one to play right before you take an exam. The song urges you to search far and wide until you find your dream, and never settle for anything less than the best.

6. “You’ll Never Walk Alone” - “Carousel”

Sometimes it can get lonely, spending every evening in the library for hours on end. It can seem like only you have the company of your piles of work, and no one to sympathize. This song provides a comforting reminder that you’re not alone, and someone is going through the same thing as you are.

7. “As If We Never Said Goodbye” - “Sunset”

This song focuses on uncharted territory and growing up unsure of yourself. The lyrics remind the listener that something so scary can seem familiar in a matter of time.

8. “Defying Gravity” - “Wicked”

“Defying Gravity” is the quintessential musical song. In the musical, the main character uses this song to accept herself and her choices, regardless of the judgement she may face. So should you use this song to encourage you in your choices and allow you to let go of what you cannot control.

9. “Do You Hear the People Sing?” - “Les Miserables”

Another perfect musical song, this number is a call to action. “Do You Hear the People Sing” is a message to work hard and to not flinch in the face of adversity; perfect advice for any college student at a crossroads.

10. “Don’t Rain on My Parade” - “Funny Girl”

Finally, a classic number from “Funny Girl,” the message of this song is clear from the title. Barbra Streisand reminds the listener to focus on his or herself and to not let anyone be the bee in her bonnet or the rain on his parade.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
