Almost everyone has at least seen one Disney movie in their lifetime and most likely has a favorite that they could watch over and over again without it ever getting boring or redundant. Disney never fails to incorporate a good feeling theme with valuable lessons and cute but recognizable characters that will stick with you forever. I have always been obsessed with Disney, and making this list was extremely difficult because I believe they are all wonderful.
1. "The Lion King"
Simba taught us to always stay true to who we are and to never forget where we come from or else we will never live up to our full potential, while Mufasa showed us the unconditional love that a father can have for their child.
2. "Beauty and the Beast"
This is one of the best love stories of all time because Belle was able to see past the Beast's outward appearance and saw beauty inside of his heart. Their love proves that "looks aren't everything" and to "never judge a book by its cover."
3. "Finding Nemo"
Who doesn't love Dory's quirkiness and forgetfulness or Marlin's determination and love for his lost son? This movie is full of adventure, agonizing loss, and it highlights the importance of friends and family. Nemo is also a perfect example of a disobedient kid who comes to understand that rules and parents are there to protect you, not to ruin the fun.
4. "Toy Story"
Buzz and Woody teach us the power of friendship and that there is always room in someone's heart for more than one person and that hate only leads to trouble and mishaps. Also, that working together is much more productive and successful, than plotting against one another.
5. "Lady and the Tramp"
I had to include this one in my list because it represents a love story between two different social classes, who both put aside their upbringings and only focus on the others character. Plus, who doesn't love the romantic spaghetti scene or adorable stroll through the park?
6. "Peter Pan"
Peter Pan taught us that being a kid forever is full of fun, games, and adventure. While, Wendy Darling showed us that growing up is an important part of life, but to always keep your childhood close and to never forget who you once were.
7. "The Fox and the Hound"
This movie is another classic example of "never judge a book by its cover" because Copper the hound dog and Todd the fox are able to become friends, even though they are supposed to be natural born enemies.
8. "Mulan"
Mulan breaks the stereotypical norm that women should remain at home while men should go off to war. She is the symbol of "girl power" and shows young girls that they can be anything they want when they set their mind to it. Plus, saving China is super cool.
9. "Robin Hood"
Robin Hood is best known for stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, but it also highlights how money and power can cause people to become greedy and selfish. It shows us that we should be thankful for the things that we have and that we should never lose hope.
10. "Lilo and Stitch"
This movie is one of my all time favorites because it teaches us that family is one of the most important things that we have. We also learn that family doesn't always have to be blood-related and that we can add anyone into our family with love and acceptance.
