When you're young, Halloween is a fun night that lets you dress up as your favorite Disney character or superhero, go trick or treating with your besties, and then have a sleepover and drown your 10-year-old sorrows away with seven pounds of chocolate and sugar.
But once you're in college its a whole different ordeal. Finding the perfect costume, on a budget, and that's cute/ creative is not an easy task. Every year, its a struggle until the very last second to find a costume. So here is my list of late 90s/early 00’s nostalgia costumes that will be easy, creative, cute, and cost-efficient.
1. Josie And The Pussy Cats
Got a group of three friends and ya'll don’t know what to be? Well, head on over to your local Goodwill, or fabric store to find some cheap clothes to create this Iconic early 2000’s movie, to not only turn heads but remember the good old days when movies used to be cheesy but so so great.
What you’ll need :
1. Tube top / Crop Top
2. Pants with possible tie dye or added rhinestones
3. Cat Ears
4. Face and Body Glitter
5. Fun Heels
All of these items you either probably have, or can buy from Walmart and make it! Your only problem with the costume will be fighting over who is Josie because she’s the best one!
2. Britney Spears
Going out solo? Well dressing up as "Hit me Baby One More Time" Britney Spears is the perfect option for you! For this costume, for sure head over to places like Goodwill and or the Salvation Army to find a few pieces that work perfectly for this fun and cheap costume! A lot of these items will be either something you own in your wardrobe already, or something
What you’ll need:
1. White Botton Down Shirt
2. Gray Cardigan
3. Black Skater Skirt
4. Black Knee High’s
5. Black Shoes
6. Pink Fluffy Hair Clips
My sophomore year of college I did this costume and found everything I needed from friends and from The Salvation Army! The hardest part of this costume is finding the Pink Hair Clips but it’s totally doable. If you have some extra time, DIY your hair clips with items you could find at either Walmart or Hobby Lobby!
3. Any "Mean Girls" character
"Mean Girls" is still so fetch and thank god because some of the costumes that the girls wear in the movie are SO EASY to recreate for so so cheap. The only downfall to these costumes is that they are still pretty popular, so you may see a few others sporting the same look as you, so just run to another bar and you’ll be totally good!…Hopefully

"In the real world, Halloween is when kids dress up and beg for candy. But in girl world, Halloween is the one time of year a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girl can say anything about it." - Caty Heron.
Be whatever version of Caty Heron you wish to see in the world, and have fun!
